Hey Stolly, you mending ok, aint seen you in ages?
We are booked into the local campsite for the weekend, and will be setting off as soon as the other half comes in from work.
Not much beats a sunny day out in the glorious Yorkshire Dales. I was far from in the mood for racing today, just had no drive at all to run up a hill, perhaps it was the sunny weather or the fact I have eaten/drunk far too much this week, not sure. Anyway, I got there, signed on and set off which is quite often the hardest bit. Nice and easy on the road to Brackenbottom and steady away up the climb. Came to by the rocks and felt good to the trig but didn't enjoy the line I took down to the stile - not a fan of tussocks on a descent. It was here that Mapper came past me who I went past mid way up the climb but he usually comes down better than me and I think I finished 30 seconds or so behind him in perhaps a smidge under 62 minutes. I thought the Horton Gala was lacking a little compared to other Yorkshire shows and galas and a few people I spoke to were a little underwhelmed. Pint of OP at the Crown and then a sit in the sun at the Helwith Bridge before heading home. Good to see some familiar faces and also the not oft seen ones! Hope to be cycling through the Dales again in the morning - love it up there.
Thanks to Settle Harriers for putting on the race and providing all the marshals - very friendly marshal by the Crown - good work.
Hey Ady - were off up the Dales tom too! But MTB not roads just deciding where i will keep an eye out for you! Will you be wearing clothes for this one?!:D
