Re: new date 13 july for bgr h
Hi Roy, glad to see you got home OK. Take some time out, recover from your injury and you will be back. It was fantastic experience doing the road support for you and it was also nice to meet some more people from the forum (I will be in touch for my next attempt ). The BG community never ceases to amaze me.

Alwaysinjured - yep on the case with the time stamps on the track. Your right that data does come through. Any Network SIM's going in this week, as well as a firmware upgrade that will add "Assisted GPS" - in trials this seems to have sorted out some of the GPS glitches we have seen yet doesn't really make a difference on the battery. As ever BG good test bed for this kind of thing. JT.

PS - did you get anywhere with the functionality I suggested? Touch a point on the track and display the time at that location? It would really help those looking at tracks. Presume the tracker transmits device time stamps with coordinates?

right then here we go i thought i better put a right up on here to explain why i never completed as i know a lot had me down as a cert included myself which i know will come next time (spelling atrocious) but here goes i got to keswick at 5pm got in touch with road support (allison)who was already in keswick we went for something to eat and basically waste time till about 6.30pm then went back to car for final preps ,walked back round to moot hall at 6.50pm to see somebody complete and see joe off at 7pm there was also another completion then i had a faff to get tracker on that bill assisted with and lain tried to keep me calm i stood at door 7.25pm ready for off and i mean ready the lads were still there off there completion so at 7.30pm huge applause and we were off climb up skiddaw was fantastic nice and cool on tops i thought we would have seen joes group from start of skiddaw climb never seen there group any of leg 1 which was strange but thats the bg showed lain the quick way to great calva then down to river caldew which was warm up over mungrisedale to summit of blencathra at this point 12 minutes up i started to descend doddick via zig zag path this is the point where it happened i looked behind to see where the others were and as i did this i took a stumble crashed to the rock like a sack of spuds got straight back up graized rib cage elbow on right thinking and hoping that was all until i tried to run again and could,nt as my left hamstring had been torn my adrenaline was still there so persistantly kept running i got to cp1 with no time loss never took break here and carried on with some more ibuprofen lost some time on clough head as could,nt run the road adnan and richard were fantastic i dont think i mentioned the pain i was in as they probably would have tried to stop me i lost time on every summit but when i got to helvellyn the pain had eased when we dropped of dollywaggon adnan had enough and did descend to tell others i was down on time and it was upto richard to see me through to cp2 which i got to 40 min down which was good as i had to take of 15 mins from cp1 took 7 min at cp more painkillers and gel on legs i started to climb steel fell pain was back immensely so took climb slow so took 8 min to steel fell then i took in food and drinks of plenty that kev, andy, jack support for this leg had we lost time at every summit again as i was over compensating on good side which in turn was making me

more tired irritable the climb up bowfell was the only 1 that i had made time on surprisingly we were doing great from here to scafell pike 10.15 where we had decision to makefor scafell there were no ropes on broad stand and wwt was busy so had to go foxes tarn but this was not the issue the painkillers had worn off we got to summit 10.55 only meaning we would have got to wasdale by 11.30 1hr down on schedule but that was a decision i had to make do i try and stay close to schedule not knowing what my leg would be like by cp and how long i would be out for or take it easy down and try again in a couple of months or when recovered as it happens it took 2 hr to get off the damn thing and painful aint the word thanks to andy and martyn also, probably be back soon when recovered and i know now this is going to be completed

Very interesting insight Vespa. You were just unlucky, Am sure you will nail it next time around.
If roping BS had been an issue - ask me and I might oblige, just was not confident I could stay with you guys if you were striding out, so did not volunteer support.
Interesting that I heard thar Bowland had a guy go headlong on gable down scramble ( there is a fast line well rigt that avoids it, same route used in the borrowdale race) , fortunately no massive problem - I gather they wonder whether he drifted asleep. I went headlong once on halls fell at night. Concentration for so long is hard.
PS do you know something about lines to Calva I do not? I normally do hare crag. There is a trod left lower down but it seems pretty rough to me. There is also a funny shaped boulder high up where dead reckoning bypasses the first top.
Am all ears if you know something I do not!
Re: new date 13 july for bgr h
cant promise at moment but may be able to show you a few lines you don,t know possibly soon
i am also putting the fall down to footwear
also it looked as if doddick had recently had a stampede up or down it (race?)as there was a lot of loose about it was more like coming down scree than grass
Re: new date 13 july for bgr h
Valiant effort to carry on after that tumble Roy, you looked shaken up and there's no recovery on such tough terrain. I'm sure you'll nail it next time.
Re: new date 13 july for bgr h
Vespa - your inbox is full :-) tracker arrived

Re: new date 13 july for bgr h
Unlucky vespa, I was sure that you were going to come trotting past me somewhere on leg 2! Kept looking back on leg 1 expecting to see you hunting me down but never did. I think i got a little too excited as we knocked about 15 mins off the ascent up Skiddaw. My support on BS had to shoot off as soon as i went past about 0845 hence why there where no ropes. Let me know if you need a rope up there next time. ill be happy to help if i can.
Re: new date 13 july for bgr h
You've done great to get as far as you did Roy! Shows how far you can get with mind over matter and a few ibuprofen!! Good luck for your future attempt and if you're desperate again I'll assist if I can!! :)
