I know you're keen to start planning your training regime but the HPM organising commitee are far more relaxed in their preperations. The web site says:

Also says on the web-site "All teams selected (including reserves) will be notified by 8th December 2009. An email will be sent out to team organisers at this stage".

See, now you've both made the fatal mistake of assuming I would be anything other than a lazy bugger relying on what I could find out on here, and go off and look into it for myself.;)

The committee are meeting tonight to run the lottery. So fingers crossed (for us not you- the bloke who knows how it all works is in New Zealand, but hopefully we will be able to let everyone know over the weekend). Good luck anyway- we get over twice as many entries as there are places.:rolleyes:

Always amusing how desperate people are to put themselves through 42 miles, in the freezing cold and dark through the sh~#ty bogs of Bleaklow!!!

Cant remember what i carried drinks wise last time around. A brandy would have been nice at halfway.
I think I did carry the tent for the whole of the way round.
The OMM 25ltr sack was def to big. It was bouncing around all the way and I think I will buy the smaller yellow one.

Don't worry Daz, no need to get another one - I can fill up the 25 litre pack for you. That will save me carrying anything.:D

Andy (Marvin) and I did our first Reccde of the year over bleaklow and I believe we've got the route wired. we'll just follow our foot prints;)

We joined the route just before Swains Head from here we followed fresh snow over hard pack that occasionally broke through. all the main groughs were full of snow.

Up to bleaklow Stones then across deep snow filled cloughs until the final climb to Bleaklow and across to Wainstones.

If you don't know what they look like you could be wandering about a bit. From there we went back via the aircraft wreck at White Stone we then decided to straight line it towards Swains head but came across one or two deep drifts

There wasn't much wind but the temp was very cold when we stopped working the snow is here for a while I suspect so best get used to it.

hi,

new on here, makes some interesting reading..

me and a team have a place in this years race. luckily i know a vast majority of the route. unfortunately the part im not very familiar with is the bogs around Bleaklow.

we managed to get as far as Margery hill on sunday its the route from there on that wories me.

any tips would be gratefully received

Looks like you just have to follow Ian & Andy's footprints!

Otherwise, reccie it well & make sure you know how to use map & compass in the dark/mist. Don't rely on following others, as the field will be well spread out by this point.

we will be out and about on sunday on bleaklow trying to make sense of the route....
hopefully we can get to grips with it in th next month or so....!!

Watch out for the snow men pointing the way;):rolleyes::D

It may give you a feel but I suspect the conditions and features will be completly different on the day

Thanks Ian,

does everyone now have a team for the race or is there still people looking to join one???

one of our members has a knee problem and may not be able to compete... just trying to get a feel for it and see who might be available..

I'm keen to make up a team - I ran last year - but unfortunately I won't pass the actually being a lady test :(. Please though bear me in mind, if only as a last resort :)
