The puppy next door does, every time I get back from a run it loos at me with cute eyes until I reach over the fence he then lick my arms to like I'm a salt lick.
It's a great dog and very intelligent, only a few months old but it sits, lays down, all on command.
It used to give a playfull nip but that was quickly trained out of him. it never barks and it is constantly given attention by its adoring owners...They train puppies for the blind so we constantly have a stream of very cute playful dogs next door....
Ha ha! I like the vid and the armpit story. Very amusing

Today's dog owner encounter (after a dog persistently runs at me):
"Can you please call your dog away"
Dog owner: "Why should I? Don't run in a park if you don't like dogs!"
It would certainly have been very scary to a small child. I should add that in other similar situations the dog owners are quick to call their dog away and apologise.
I had an altercation today- two women with between them 7 dogs. None on leads. Two raced towards me and I put my foot out- they eve NOT going to get the chance to bite my ankles. they got upset that I would even think of kicking out at their dog. ( I actually didn't touch it, but would have done if I thought it necessary) They did not have their dogs under control in a public place. they assured me they never bite. yes- just like all those lost dogs on Facebook who do exactly as the owners say and would never run off when called back.

Herbie meet forum, Herbie is a biter, he will bite your ankles, hands, trousers, chairs, faces, toes, slippers, well just about anything if I'm honest, even seems to enjoy a nibble of his metal crate. The only thing Herbie dissaproves of is my poo bag flinging into tree skill, which need much improvement.
Herbie is 8 weeks old but has already covered the passenger seats and door of our van in vomit which he achieved with the first day. He promises much!
Lovely pup pic. What is he? Fox red?
Lovely pup.
Make sure seeing shorts is his trigger for attack mode.
No, he won't bite. He just finds running much more fun than walking.
I was just starting up the bridleway to the Outwoods when I passed a lady with a dog, and the dog started running around my feet, as so many dogs do, not quite tripping me up. The lady called the dog back, which is usually the end of the encounter. Indeed, I thought it was the end of the encounter this time, but a little further up the path I became aware of panting behind me. It stayed just behind me, not threatening to trip me up. This continued for maybe a quarter of a mile, until I stopped, turned round and shouted "Back", pointing back down the path. I had to do this twice before the dog got the message.
The only similar incident I have had was when I was living in Bracknell, and running in Crowthorne Woods. A Great Dane detached from its owners and came bounding along beside me. After maybe 200 metres I altered course to make a loop back to where the owners were. They apologised and told me that he was only a puppy.
The dogs in both incidents were lovely animals. So the question is: if a dog follows me all the way home, is it mine to keep? :)
I quite often run with my dog which seems to deter other dogs but have had similar experiences in the past. There comes a point where the owner is out of sight and the dog is undeterred and you have to make a decision on how to deal with it. Usually stopping will do the trick but otherwise you have no option but to reverse your route.
I had one occasion, actually when I had my dog with me , where a very bouncy young labradoodle type thing took umbridge with some rather boring obedience training, liked the look of the run and came with us. Not only that but he decided to take the lead and there was some doubt if I could keep up with him, let alone his owners. I managed to collar him a while later and attached my dog's lead to him. Unfortunately it then took a while to locate his rather distraught owners who by now had wandered off down a different path. No harm done in the end and lessen learnt for the owners.
Funny how things turn out. I've been trying to put my 2016 brush with death behind me and I've avoided going anywhere near the place where it happened. But I had a phone call the other day from a mate who said someone had been attacked at the same spot and spent 3 days in hospital with serious arm injuries. Turns out the c*nt who owns the dog lied to the police about it being put down and has since added a second beast to the stable. This poor guy was attacked by two of them. Needless to say, he is pursuing prosecution. At least he now has my crime number to prove the owner has previous form. I hope they throw him into a dark place and throw away the key!....but of course they won't. These twats always seem to get away with it!
Good grief Wheeze, I've just gone back and read of your experience. Terrifying. Here's hoping the authorities put a stop to it this time.
It might of been. There is a photo of him on page 190 of the latest Fellrunner magazine!
First time out in tights this autumn and a good job as a dog bit straight through em and through my undies  lucky just glanced the skin, the owner got all edgy when I said he should have it on a lead until he realised I was checking the hole in my pants to see if I was bleeding, being a dog owner myself I know dogs can be a pain in the ass but I would imagine that I’m not the first runner that this particular mutt has reared up at, on the plus side, a lovely evening for a run, 4 miles with Mrs DTR who’s just finishing off a cold then another 8 myself joining a load of fields and footpaths with as little road as possible. I love the Autumn :)
I think he thought it had just tripped me until he saw the hole in my pants, it was on a footpath but it was clear that I as ran past it was shouted back to them as it maybe has previous form, I didn’t have time to slow and stop before it tried a chomp, Mrs DTR reckoned I should have asked him for the cash for the tights just glad I wasn’t in shorts.
This thread started life as a light-hearted commentary about things some dog owners say. It lost its way a bit but good old President Biden has now weighed in (after his dog, unfortunately, has taken to biting people at the White House)....
“He's a sweet dog," Mr Biden has said.
“All he does is lick them and wag his tail”
etc etc.

I'm amused by the term "nip" (read "bite" - he wasn't using fingers and thumbs!) As the White House is a place of work, you can't really screen the entire staff for being dog friendly.
I've never heard it called that before. ;) No wonder he needed treatment.Quote:
CNN reported that a National Park Service employee was bitten on the South Lawn and had to stop work to receive treatment
Presumably female??
Only ever had two incidents of note.
First one was a Mallinois who lunged at me. Owner stopped him luckily and then said he'd been spooked so could I stroke him as it would help. The dog became good as gold when I did, though rather disconcertingly decided to bury its head in my crotch. Safe to say I remained very still.
The other time I got bitten by a pug. A true low point...
I see a poor woman in her 80s died after being attacked by 2 dogs. So sad. Who would want to own dogs that could do this? I would like to believe that they were behaving completely out of character, but I doubt that is the case.
