Slacker!
easy week after 2 long runs last weekend. Hoped for a run on Wed night but it got cancelled. Might run or cycle to work if the weather (or more important cycle track surface) picks up
Done 43 miles / 11,000 feet-ish since last Wednesday but resting tonight :closed:
Didn't run but went for a walk up the dale today. 10 miles / 3700 feet. Bit wintery on the tops but a nice blow out. Fishfingers and chips were ace afterwards in Grassington
I got a full day's resting in today, mainly chair and couch work. My rest every day routine is well on track with a full month's resting under my belt so far. I have been thinking of incorporating some midday naps into it but I think I should work up to them first and not over do it. :D
Good resting Alf. 30 minute nap taken late afternoon here, followed by leisurely evening on settee drinking beer
Chest infection encouraged me to get some resting in last night.
Got in from work and decided on an interval session. First off; a quality 3 hr doze on't couch followed by some light recovery - mainly making my lunch for today and a natter with the wife. Didn't think I'd managed my next slumber but went hard at it and put a good 8 hrs in.
After 4 or 5 gym and runs per week, l have had 2 successive rest days.
A quiet week after Killan's BG support last weekend. Track lined up Tuesday evening before next weekend's record attempt
Flu: enforced rest for about a week, probably. At least I won't be tempted to aggravate the niggle in my calf.
Anthony I think i'm a mirror image of yourself at the moment. Calf injury a couple of weeks ago, bug last week, and calf done in again last weekend, so more enforced rest. So frustrating, as I've been itching to really push on with training. But with the long distance escapades coming up, I can't afford to risk any injuries so got to be sensible at the moment (which is proving difficult and irritating!)
Been resting since 2012. Going well
Get off your backside, you young bloaterhttp://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/images/icons/icon6.png.
You might just have shamed me into a run out Wheezing Ian. I’m thinking maybe September. I’ve actually lost nearly half a stone since end of 2017 by skipping breakfast, and taking out Tuss out most days
Hard week at work.
Haven't trained in the last 7 days.
Day 6 of resting after feeling a twinge in my calf muscle last Friday; didn't want to risk making anything worse before the Brecon Fans this weekend. Actually, when I say "resting", I mean not running; I have been out on the bike a couple of times. Not sure what a race will feel like after 8 days of not running: either I will be full of energy, or my legs will have trouble remembering what they are supposed to be doing.
On the very rare occasion that I have a few days (or more) rest, I usually feel mentally lethargic to start, but surprisingly fresh when my legs have warmed up.
I’ve not done much this week . . .
Rest day at the beach.
Need to cool down now😎
Pool day in the sunshine.
Beautiful and peaceful with a visit to the pool every 45mins to cool off.
Paradise.
You moved abroad? Seem to have been gone for months
Ha ha ha are you missing me DT?
Still abroad.
Only swimming and cycling today.
Back to the trails and hills tomorrow.
Still abroad?!
Well did do 7 wks in Castleford.
Now back for a week's training in the sun.
Booked another week straight after Christmas.
If it wasn't for work i could get used to training in warm countries.
How you doing DT
I’m okay thanks. Hopefully progressing now after a bit of a rubbish back-end. Enjoy your break
I thought that today would be a rest day for me. However, on arriving home from last night's 'torcher up Ingleburger, there was a note from my S.O. that one of my cycling buddies had a dental appointment this morning, down in Garstang and would I accompany her? So it was a 25 miler this morning on the tourer / winter bike (first ride this autumn in full bib tights); and Tracey doesn't hang about! Now ready fror a proper night's sleep!
O to be exempt from work,
With good health
And
Brass in't bank.
All tbe best Ian, I'm very envious.
PS long may it continue 👍
Well ..... after post #387, above, I just had to go out yesterday on the CTC 50 miler around Warton, the Yealands, across the Keer Valley and into the Lune Valley for coffee at Casterton Golf Club; a loop around Leck & Ireby into the Greta Valley (Burton in Lonsdale) over to Low Bentham (Wenning Valley) then Wray (Hindburn Valley) for lunch and down the Lune Valley for home. Lots of sharp climbs over the ridges between these valleys. Totally knackered when I got home; BUT hallelujah, I'm resting today, 2 days later than expected. Will still sleep like a log tonight.
Had a twinge in the old Achilles tendon after each of my last two runs, so decided to give it a rest today, and just went for a walk up to the Outwoods before church. Large numbers of runners passing me in the woods and on the paths to and from them: in my heart I wanted to be running with them, but in my head I knew that it is better to have a rest rather than let a twinge become an injury. And I know from experience that having a week or two off really renews my hunger for running.
Sensible lad, Anthony. It's as much about using your head, as it is your legs.
The day after my first vaccination, I had no noticeable effects; but today, after the second vaccination, I have definitely been feeling rather tired. So did nothing more strenuous than walking to and from church this morning (about 25 minutes each way), and a bit of gardening in the afternoon.
I've got my second jab tomorrow at 1120 so might go for a little leg loosener before it!
The reason for not going out for my planned run today was not this morning's continuous rain. I got up feeling rather queasy, then after three sessions sitting on the "throne" felt somewhat better, but I'm still not quite right. I've got an idea what has caused it; I need to be more discriminating about when it's safe to ignore "Use by" dates on food.
There's a few off at work with suspected food poisoning too. I wonder if some of this might be that norovirus we were warned about.
Here's some topical humour to keep your spirits up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5P-uZqm0RE
And now I'm in this part of the forum... I've not run for about a week now, as I've had a bad cold. I might try a 3-mile potter tomorrow.
My rule of thumb is to be wary of the 'use by' dates but ignore 'best by' and 'sell by'. This seemed to work well until Morrisons dropped using any of them at all on some products - thankfully mostly on fresh that is reasonably easy to determine and won't hurt you if not!
I have taken heed of your warning AK.
I fancied some cheese and biscuits this evening and found a Garlic and Chive soft cheese mini roule in the fridge. Yes, it looked as good as it sounds, and as I was about to spread some on a biscuit I thought, how long have I had it?
Use by 06/01/22 was the answer.
In the bin it went and I had to make do with boring Cheddar!
Thank you AK ;)
