Snow??

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AARGH!

More f*cking snow... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Being snowed in again and I want to be able to go away...

I can't run as still ill, roads completely unviable for any vehicle! Had to have a telephone consultation with the docs, because I can't get there and I need to go to the hospital for a chest x-ray...

I also want to be able to go away this weekend... I have been having far too misereable a time lately anyway, I deserve a treat :(:(:(

Just stopped in Leeds City Centre, I'd imagine about 3 inches at home by now - a decent amount to run in later:)

At least 6 inches of new snow on top of the old stuff and ice underneath. Local farmer just been up and cleared some.

Not always that good anyway.
Just been told our old fella decided not to take his Merc to work as its carp in snow. Decided to take my mums vitara instead, what with it being a 4x4 and all.

Reversing uphill out of drive, it slid back and got stopped by the garage....:rolleyes:

There's even a covering down here in the flat Midlands. Should make the trot out later slippier than planned......

I'm off for a run now...running to the sorting office in Keighley to pick up the post for the hamlet I live in - then of course running back again. Looking forward to this !!!

Just bought some autosocks and they were brilliant last night. Snow chains are a pain to get on and off.

Still staying at home though. Don't know about this running lark though - it's too deep for me and quite unpleasant outside.

Cheer up Emmi! At least you are stuck at home rather than somewhere else.

Its just stopped here so time to go out for a lunchtime run and post my trog entry off while I am out there :D

We think we've got it bad....-25 in poland...the main river has frozen over.:eek:

Not had any post delivered to the house for the past fortnight at least! They got rid of their Land Rover some years ago. Sorting office is now in Nelson as well rather than Colne.

Having run most days for a fortnight in deep snow over Christmas I have to disagree with you Al. If by deep, you mean 4 to 6 inches of slightly thawing wet, relatively untrodden snow, then you're bang on.

On the other hand try running fast (or at all) in 3 foot deep frozen snow with one set of the day before's footholes frozen solid in place or crunchy ankle shearing 'razor' snow or the stuff that's inconsistantly frosty on top such that with one step it supports you but with another you sink up to the top of your thighs.

Like an Eskimo I can now distinguish between 50 different types of snow ;) :)

Quite a morning today, set off at half six. Got off the bus in Bury after just over an hour after leaving Ramsbottom to try and get the tram into Manchester. No trams, saw the next express bus for Manchester so got on that. Gets to the M66 about a half hour later, we were then told that when the service terminated in Manchester the bus would return to Bury, and all other services would be suspended until further notice. I thought sod that! Ended up getting off the bus and walking down the slip road, and walked home. Quite a nice walk as it turned out, coming back alongside the Irwell, might try and muster some effort for a run in a bit.

...and the directors at work just sent round an emal instructing all staff to go home at 2pm WOOOHOOO!

Pathetic relly given the paltry covering that we have ATM but I ain't complaining. Might get out for a run in the light.

Sat at work in the middle of Sheffield with no sign of being allowed home early :( :( (accounts month/year end has alot to do with this) Im Ok cos ive bought running gear and rucksack and im quite looking forward to the run home :p but I feel really sorry for some of the others here who live in Chesterfield/Worksop/Wakefield you name it.

My club's monthly time trial tomorrow is definitely cancelled - icy pavements apparently:rolleyes: - shame as I'm sure there would've been a personal worse or two:eek:

Anyway snow in Leeds centre didn't stop for long, been coming down again for last couple of hours.

Forging tracks up on Chinley Churn this morning... normal 50 minutes route took 1hr 25 mins!!! Saved some time not having to open gates though.

Planning a night slog up South Head ridge path tonight... was thigh deep at the weekend so should be interesting.

What is it like up Manchester way Tom?

I am snowed in at work... thankfully, I wear Inov8's by default and always carry a headtorch with me, so that will be a walk home then :cool:

Not bad here at all Hann, not strictly in Manc but not miles away. Snow stopped falling about 1 but it's when this mush turns to ice that's the problem and the lack of Bloody GRIT....did I mention that yet :rolleyes: Anyway, will keep you posted. All the main roads seem ok at the minute, road closures are not due to 12 ft snow drifts but lorries that have jack knifed so provided there are no road accidents it should be business as usual. Forecast is snow tomorrow then that's it!

snow has been falling all day in Heywood

heavy snow on chester and wrexham, and sticking fast. had to call the club session off tonight - the rural lanes we run on are lethal

We measured the snow in my sisters garden, and we have 10 inches of snow, and its still snowing, so no idea what it be like tomorrow, couldn't go into work today, because a pipe had burst and the heating was off!

Went and asked the elderly neighbours if they were okay, and then we went to the garage to get them milk etc, felt like i was about 12 again, had a snowball fight. It was hardwork walking in the snow, but that was about 11am this morning, so not sure what its like to walk in now. Cars were getting stuck in the snow on the main roads, but we did see a gritter go past us heading towards one of the main roads.

North Manchester. *3 miles out of Town centre*

Seriously Hanneke don't drive to Manchester if you can at all avoid it, the local news is on now, its telling people to stay away.

Telling the locals to stay at home, because we are running out of grit, and only the main roads are getting done, never seen anything like this, my sister said we had snow as bad as this in 1982 it was bad then.

My sister in Preston said theres a few inches of snow, here its loads!

The snow been falling almost non stop all night and day today, one of my sisters is in Cyprus and enjoyed her Mountain Trek!
