Your probably lucky that they let you down. my early crop all got frost damage one freak(typical) peak late May crisp morning despit covering them up they all died, next lot are doing well as are the Aurbergines, Strawberries/raspberries and peas all fruiting at the moment, All the salad stuff the is going manic, next week the low level south facing billberries should start appearing.Quote:

Courgettes courgettes - more than we can eat now. Plus strawberries, new potatoes and turnips not to mention all the green leafy stuff!!!
The total for June was 21, and another 6 this evening so growing well, plenty of plnts not started yet.
Cooking now are the years first pick of broad beans, also new spuds aplenty. Strawberries and loads of salad leaves every day.
There's certainly something to be said for growing your own - especially when the Missus does all the work and I just eat the produce :o.
Lots of flowers on the courgettes but nothing to eat yet. We had the first batch of strawberries this morning and the first lot of peas this evening.
The pepper plant though is heaving with peppers, I'm not sure i can eat that many.....
Our first broad beans will be ready at the weekend. Peas not quite there yet and lots of flowers on the corgettes which are doing well. Going to have a look at the early potatoes tomorrow to see if its worth digging up some yet - these are the veg im most worried about as they dont seem to have done as well. Sweetcorn seems to be fine but ive never grown this before. :eek:
No chilli peppers yet on the chilli plants :mad:
Hoping the courgettes will be ready next week, potatoes still too small, beetroot is ready now - need to get pickling soon. The garlic has done well this year too.

Ian we have an odd selection of corgettes - some go mad and end up as marrows vertually and some have bulged out sideways into balls almost - theres no reason I can see really other than this is a new area we are using and im not sure the soils as good
We are away for 5 days from tomorrow - heaven knows what we will return to on the courgette front, they are coming thick and fast as it is. Redcurrants picked and in freezer, first raspberries eaten, all the broad beans harvested and frozen. Looking good now after a nice drop of rain.
Had to strip our gooseberry bush yesterday as some of them had already been snaffled! Birds perhaps?
Missus is picking so many raspberries, we've started 2 litres of raspberry vodka. Never tried it before, so hope for the best - whatever it tastes like I'm sure I'll drink it!!
Still more fruit to come, but the blackbirds have discovered the berries and a bit of a race to get to the ripe ones before them.
I had to chop a second lot of home grown runner beans yesterday, after the first lot disappeared out the colander before I could get them to the pan :eek: They were very nice though, raw and cooked. :)
