Don't under-estimate the descent of Whernside either. You arrive at the top with your legs screaming and then all off a sudden hit a fantastic run off for around 800m, before the steep crappy bit.
This is where you see most signs of runners in bits, screaming with cramp, even more than on the run in to Horton.
Front end perhaps find it fine, but I try to ease my way off. A little walk at the top, get my legs back, have a little to eat and drink, and start running slowly.
