morning commute 14km. But it was after 1mile swim. Easy jog tonight.
Settled into my daily CX commute via canal towpath and getting the bug back. Daily lunchtime runs thrown in from next week and nasty thoughts of entering the 3PCX again this year :p
Well done ady on the comeback. Be nice to see you do the 3 peaks.
Just done 25miles with my lad josh. Loads of climbs and we decided to have a little 5 lap criterium race at the finish which has a severe climb in in. 4 th time round he asked me for water and then had the cheek to blast up the hill on my rourke to take the race.
Fantastic, it doesnt get better than that. Mind im not sure about his unshaven legs in bibshorts.
Al have you looked up le metier yet, lol
First ride out on the cube. 12.5 hilly miles around the Holme valley - 45 minutes. Took it nice and steady to ease myself in, well apart from the descent into Jackson bridge! Not got anymore figures as i ain't got round to setting up the polar computer yet. Felt really good to be out on a road bike again, really enjoyed myself. Really happy with the bike, just need a few changes in it's set up and then it'll be perfect. Considering a Reutal bike fit. Anyone else gone down this route when setting up a bike?
52 miles over the Brynna and Bwlch climbs then nailed it back along the valley in a brisk 3hrs and a bit so back in time to see a monster finish from Gilbert in Amstel Gold:thumbup:
Reckon I deserve a beer before bed!
Only 52 miles??? Pah. Just a glass of water and a crust for you, young man!
Went out for an hour, did 25 miles... Now I am knackered ;)
Well done Toffer
Yes an ace finish from the Gilbert. That Amstel finish is a hard task after all that dodging of street furniture. He timed it perfectly. To be honest I think he just looked around and basically thought there is no one here to touch me. Dont forget Fleche Wallone next.
Didnt see Hann roaring him on in the crowd though Toffer on eurosport ? . Did you.
What happened to the Rabobank boys Hann ?
I don't know Daz, I had my head down on a dragstrip somewhere in South Wales, in an attempt to ride a 25 under the hour... failed by a narrow margin... but pleased with the ride, especially as, a day later, my niggly knee seems to have settled again so I reckon I got away with it, even though it was screaming at me yesterday :)
14.5 miles around the holme valley. Again hilly, found the trog up isle of skye road pretty hard work! Just gonna keep it up with between 12-20 mile's for now while fitness improves. Might have a crack at holme moss over the weekend, see how it goes. Really enjoying being back out and at it though :D
on the new cube, eves. holme moss area is a great cycling country. tomorrow, for me, hoping to get about 50km over oxenhope, hedden bridge and back along the calder valley. looking to buy a new bike too when royal mail pay me out what they owe me.
Have you had a look at that steel holdsworth in the classifieds of cycling weekly yet? It's just the one you want. Not sure what size though.
It's the same as this one:

i would love to spend that amount of cash. it looks beautiful, bit like the old mercxs. i will have to make do with the old pennine. looking for a new steed this summer. i have my mtb, my thoroughbred and looking for a run around about £1400 but must be 0% finance.
oh i forgot to say, that is man porn. what man wouldn't want one of them??(the holdsworth )
A gentle 38 mile this afternoon. Down Blackstone edge and round Hollingworth lake then back over to Milnrow, Delph, Marsden and home.
Great day to be out.
Legs were tired for last couple of mile.
Just being round my local loop.
15.75 mile 1250ft climb (7mile long steady) just an hour and 30 seconds.
Got a pain in ball of right foot, is it bruised from the pedals?
Lovely afternoon to be out.
Did a quick ten miles yesterday, again hilly as everything round here is. Feeling better with each ride though. Going to try and get out late this afternoon for 20 or so before I head off for a night shift.
Managed a 90 miler today on the club run up to Wray & Caton. Cracking weather. Lack of miles in my legs made for a slowish last 10 miles but still managed 17mph.
30 miles this afternoon round the holme valley. Didn't make it over holme moss as planned. Hoping to do that next weekend.
Leeds to Malham on Easter Sunday, cracking weather, 82 mile return trip .
Just been out for a steady mountain bike ride, snapped the chain after 7 mile so it turned in to a bike push home.
I do prefer road biking though.
oh brill. if you like we could meet at, is it the halifax burnley rd ? top of sowery bridge. a ride to mythomleroyd up cragg vale (longest continuous climb in england) littlebrough todmerdon hebden brigde hebden brige keighley rd oxenhope. let me know when you could meet or pm me. oh ps i am an old duffer with a fat belly but it would be good if you or anyone else wants to make one in.
Got hit by 2 ducks on my morning inbound commute, 1 on the ankle and 1 on the head. Lovin' the off road daily work rides.
I'm going to trip you up on Saturday!
Great hour and half on the bike. 11am till 12.30 was like having my own private roads.
More weddings = more Bank Holidays and traffic free cycling. I'm not a royalist but could be persuaded.
A trip to the local cycle jumble this morning. Nice to have a wander around the stalls etc and pick up a couple of bits. Some really old stuff there as usual.
Was talking to an old timer who has 22 roadbikes:thumbup:
Only a small one as that wedding was on. But still nice to be with a few like minded people.
92 miles today with the club. Bit to much of a social pace but a good ride anyhow. That breeze was a bit stiff on the way back home :sneaky:
Well done ady. Nice to see you getting back out.
How many do you usually get on you club rides. What club do you ride with. Been thinking about joining heanor clarion myself.
Long rides are so much better in a group. Hopefully doing a long one myself tommorow in the peak district with some big climbs.
Around 20 of us out this morning but problem is there are varied levels of fitness so we ended up stopping quite a bit on the way back to re-group and on the way out we did not take full advantage of the tail wind as it was deemed to quick for some of the riders.
There is an earlier ride that I somtimes go on but need a few more rides to get fit enough otherwise I would probably get blown out as it usually averages around 19 mph over 80-90 miles. Today's ride was a tad under 17 average but grand social occasion!
I am in the North Lancs Road club - like you say it is much better riding in a group and works better when you are all quite evenly matched for speed/fitness.
Great thread here http://weightweenies.starbike.com/fo...p?f=14&t=38397
Documents the sights of people rides from around the world. Lots of really good pictures. Thread was started a few years ago so many of the early pictures are now gone, so best starting about half way through. Great to look at if you've got some time to kill.
