A few more photos up at the above address.
OK, sorry for the delay, been away with work. There's a short race report at
www.halifaxharriers.co.uk (new website)...it's in the news section.
The flickr link on the front page leads to our flickr page with a whole load of new photos up from CWR this morning. I hope I managed to capture one or two of you.
Right people, entries will be opening shortly for the 2013 Calderdale Way Relay. Some of the feedback last year was very useful. This year, we're looking to put on HOT food at the finish (probably pie and peas) and it looks like we'll have to have a Scran Marshal to ensure that late arrivals at the finish get their share of grub. We are going to be offering BIG (ie 3 figure) prizes for record breakers this year. Details to be finalised and target times to be set (bearing in mind course changes over the years) but there'll be substantial (cash I believe) bonuses for any male or female teams breaking the record for the over-all round, also 3 figure bonuses for any pairs that manage to break the record for an individual leg of the race.
Keep an eye on the Halifax Harriers website for news updates or maybe follow us on Twitter (if you are that way inclined) @HalifaxHarriers ...we'll also notify you via this here forum when Entry Forms are ready. We look forward to welcoming you to another massive day of fell running fun.
What are the existing records and were they winter or summer runs.
The Men's record is 5:34:36 set by Bingley in '96.
The Women's record is 7:02:11 set by Clayton in '89
Leg 1: 1:05:15 (2005) Women's 1:20:29 (1986)
Leg 2: 0:53:31 (1989) Women's 1:08:31 (2002)
Leg 3: 0:32:23 (1992) Women's 0:44:27 (1991)
Leg 4: 0:57:51 (1996) Women's 1:13:17 (1989)
Leg 5: 0:47:56 (1989) Women's 0:59:51 (1989)
Leg 6: 0:59:37 (1989) Women's 1:11:17 (1996)
As far as I know (I'm prepared to stand corrected) these were all winter races.
Because there have been course changes over the years we have looked at times over the last 10 years and we are going to set "Target" times for the bonus prizes which will be, in the majority of cases, slower than these existing records. These target times are currently being evaluated....we think that the targets should be fair and achievable, especially given that conditions are more likely to be faster in the current May slot.
As can be seen, a team picking up the Overall record bonus is more than likely going to pick up some Leg bonuses along the way.
Entry forms for the Calderdale Way Relay 2013 are now available for download on the Halifax Harriers Website.
http://www.halifaxharriers.co.uk/clu...ale-way-relay/
We have now set the bonus prize fund for teams and pairs that beat the target times (based on existing records) at a massive £1,800.
Full details of the target times and the distribution of these bonuses is on the website.
Please remember, we have a strict limit of 100 teams and we're already well on the way to half that number of entries so probably best not to leave it to the last minute.
