So...... I've totally had enough of this no running thing with my crocked knee and this eveining I dusted off my elder daughter's mountain bike and went for a mostly off road cycle trek up the Pennine Bridleway.
Well what a noob I was - the seat was too low which I reset but it still dropped down again, it took ages for me to work out the gears, I wheel spinned going up steep slopes (presumably in too low a gear) almost to the point of completely castrating myself, the handle bars seemed too low, I kept slipping on the peddles and was scared shitless going down steep hills. To make matters worse I wasn't wearing the oh so crucial helmet and sunglasses combination either
But it was a great 45 minute ride and I welcomed the quad burn when it came like a herione junky finally getting a fix after two weeks of cold turkey :D. I felt it a little on my knee towards the end but nothing that will put me off.
I'm fairly sure I'll be able to take the stabilisers off next time.
nice 11 miles all off road with around 1500ft of climb. went up the whangie whizz race route, then over boggy tussocky ground over duncolm to the kilpatricks race route, marshalled there for an hour on windy corner (sorry bad stomache) and returned, finishing the second half of the whangie route. Lovely evening, chatting with friend, racers and other marshals at the end, and beautiful running. Dog in heaven and me not far off.

Around Dovestones res last night with a couple of mates. Up Whinberry before a treacherous descent to the Chew road. Then up the other side onto Dovestones proper. Packed a lot in to a relatively short time. Super! :)
Just back in from an easy-ish 30mins, bit tired after last night's endeavours.... It's chilli tonight! :D
4m to work on singlespeed more uphill carrying practice, 8m flat out effort home, felt good today, legs have lost that weary feeling from Duddon:cool:
Sounds like a bit of an ordeal, well done. It'll have you in good stead for KT. See you there! :)
750 metres on the stairclimber jobbie. It's great cos there's no stress on my foot on this as I don't have to lift my heels at all.
12.5 mile bike.
Cut short run tonight felt really tired, I think it is delayed effects from Duddon.:( Manged slow 5 miles on canals mainly
6X400m (65 Sec) with 400m recovery then 6X110m. Hard session asthma playing up though :(
Get onto the fells Bear runner. I get wheezy running on roads or tracks at this time of year. Once you get above the smog, it's alright.
1 hour on hilly roads this morning. Including 2 x ~500ft climbs. Couldn't manage a 3rd, too pooped! Plus thoughts of movie, crisps & a beer or two were distracting me somewhat.... :p
4m to work on geared road bike. 28m 15mph average after work. Through Sowerby Bridge, Hebden Bridge, Todmorden, stopping off for a cheeseburger and a pot of tea at Gordon Riggs then climb up to White House pub resisting the urge to stop for a Guinness, then down into Ripponden racing the Huddersfield bus, just pipped me to the traffic lights by a couple of seconds:mad: Least i don't have to pay bus fare:D
