received my "Team Manager"'s info yesterday, including 10 identical no. 42's
I'm supposed to make sure everybody has a copy of the race instructions/rules/directions/relevant maps etc
it's all available on the website, but if anybody wants me to send copies in the post, let me know...
I've never actually taken part in one of these type of relays before
I assume there's some sort of "best practice" re meeting up before/after, and transport to/from leg starts/ends, so if anybody wants to give me a clue as to how it all goes off, PLMK... :D
GO TEAM 42!
WISHING YOU ALL A VERY VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND ALL THE BEST FOR 2009 Xxx ;)
I got my vest yesturday - black and size large ladies  (was no medium mens and ladies fitted better and i dont really care :D)
Wore it with pride on xmas on the fells. :D
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL YOU PONIES OUT THERE:cool:
Blumming eck, the slug family are calling everyone ponies, i think i might go back out and come back in again...sounds like someones been on the sauce!
I'm sure I must've mentioned this before, but I have a mortal aversion to early starts (other than for races when it can't be helped, and even then I try to choose races that don't have an early start)
I might be able to drag myself up there for 11am-ish...
oh, and keep meaning to put up link to this photo wot I found on the wfra site in a report on the Pipe Dream race:

Oh what a great pic :D
I am a rubbish fell pony :( my new year resolution is to be a better pony! :D
how do we go about recce'ing the MTL anyway? - presumably people will want to do their own legs? - I haven't got the time or the endurance to do much more than Leg 5 anyway - which bits do anybody else want to do...?
[meanwhile... I'd still like to have a nosey around White Holme/Blackstone Edge at some point... ;)]
A perfect description of myself this festive period, fat, yes put on a bit of weight, lazy , yes, due to manflu have not done a step in training (hence the weight gain:mad:, DRUNKEN DUE TO MEDICINAL ALCHOHOL, and i am a wazzock cos Mal Bird called me one all the way around leg 3 of a BG attempt.
All about to change though, I am doing Captian Cooks race New Years Day @11am, never missed for 11years and only missed once in the previous 5years.
This year will be the slowest yet, and I am, in the true Pony spirit going to start at the back and hopefully stay there:eek:
HEALTH AND HAPPINESS TO ALL YOU PONIES AND FAMILIES FROM RICE PUDDING BOY
AK will be just setting off up to Captain Cooks now....
Sorry Rice Pudding Boy but I decided to cheer you on from the comfort and warmth of my sofa! ;)
(Hope you had a shandy for me at the finish!)
What about this recce on Sunday? We are happy to trot round any leg so anyone who doesn't know their way and wants some idea before the day, speak now! A 1030 start is good, not forgetting we'll have to get cars to the end of chosen leg for getting home afterwards (Master don't think about it, we'll give you some simple instructions when all is decided:eek:):)
Now that would have been a sight, seeing a chubby MG at the top of Cooks monument might have made me go quicker, but alas not to be. although did spot a few beards up there!!!!!!!!!
Just had a trot around and thoroughly enjoyed being back on the hills, tried for last position but runners kept falling over in front of me.....
Did not have a shandy but a mug of hot tea followed by delicous moist christmas cake. All the best:p
Nice avatar MG but can you still fit into that dress??????????Chubs
My mole tells me a few ponies where at Keithley yesterday.
I can now say i an officially a pony as of yesturday :D
