I would love to re-do this. Done it twice, then two years with no entry accepted made me go for other stuff. Now I'm in a Bullock Smithy 'rut'! Done 5, looking to go for 10 so at that rate I might go for the Ben again when I'm 59!! :)
I've missed out but keeping fingers crossed for a place from the reserve list. I wanted my 21 to be consecutive, I'm not sure whether to be grateful I've managed to get in 13 in a row or saddened at what might be the end of a 13 year long effort. More sad than grateful really, missing one equals failure. At least I'm in Jura again and this year will be my 21st Langdale - if I get in that.
Me too Mark, I'm also hoping to get a place from reserve list but not as crucial for me now having got my 21 in. Commiserations and I hope you get a place. I will be there for the weekend come what may.
Interesting news in that our biggest has got even bigger.
The scientists of the digital world reckon it's because equipment has become more accurate as technology advances.
Nothing to do with the tourists building those pesky cairns then.......................
Bit of a strange time of year to ask this question, but do the organisers of the Ben Nevis assess applications based on times achieved in Cat A races, or do you just need to demonstrate that you do them on a regular basis?
I'm hoping to enter my first BN next year, but I'm very much plodder rather than whippet. Just wondering if that will preclude me in the ballot. Cheers
I'm pretty sure that you just need to state that you have completed the qualifying races. I don't think they look at the times and choose the fastest runners. That wouldn't be fair in an equal world.
Keep a close eye on the website early next year (January) and get your entry off first class post the day entries open. It fills up almost in an instant.
