Sorry you had to dash off. Sorry but the T shirts were only for the first 40 men and first 10 women finishers!
I'm glad to read so many positive comments about the race but it really is a monster to put on. We needed close on 50 helpers not counting Raynet who provided the communications for us. That's a lot to find from a club our size when so many people want to run in the race so the plan is for the next one to be in 2020.
I had an excellent time doing this too (once I'd stopped kicking myself about my stupid decision to go to the right of Greenfield reser, and until I decided a bramble patch would be the perfect place to overtake coming off Alphin).
My Garmin told me just over 14.5 and 2250', but I took some pretty awful lines.
Many thanks to the organisers. Exceptionally well run, and definitely a classic race.
13.94 miles and 2982 ft. I straight-lined from Feather bed to Alphin which is why I'm a bit shorter that the others' tallys.
An absolutely fantastic day and beautiful weather. Big thanks to all involved in the organisation and execution of this great event.
Thanks Jo, for posting the Pennine pics....'Dunc da funk' indeed. Frank went on to pass me and stay ahead of me for the rest of the race soon after that pic.
Manhar, I've finally met you in a race - you were looking pretty done in heading across to the second road crossing. I wish you a speedy recovery from whatever is ailing you :-)
My first ever fell race & a fantastic day! Thanks to all involved at Saddleworth Runners, OMRT & other helpers. Weather was spectacular with only downside being it was so clear I could see the front runners waaay in the distance. Found the descent off Alphin to be interesting at that stage in the day!
Carry on straight past Alphin summit, down the ridge, cut back down a ramp off the ridge close to where the fence meets the ridge- great path, fast running and no knee high heather or tussocks to contend with - 5 to 7 minutes from summit to barn...at last a race where I got to use LK ;)
Cheers Duncan
I thought I was running well at the 2nd road crossing (:o) -after the Mile post dropping down to Greenfield res. It was after passing Chew res my legs decided to go on strike.
Seriously though having been out injured last year with an ruptured achilles tendon I do hope this hasn't affected my overall capability for the long stuff eg 3 peaks.
