Got past you and about 3 others on that bit Ady :D. Whilst the line could have been better, at least it took us directly to the stile and the CP at Hull Pot, and missed out the curvy loop to the right. I thought it was ok. You were well under 62 mins. Mine was 60.24 and I think you were 30 secs behind.
I can't believe I've done it before in 55 mins ~ must've been when mi legs were a bit newer !
We have just got back to a very damp Yorkshire coast after weekend in Horton.
I wouldn’t recommend the campsite to anyone; it has poor facilities and was very over crowded. Despite having pre-booked we only just managed to get our van in. The road outside was lined with cars all of which had £30 tickets on midway through Saturday morning.
It was the first time that I had raced in the area. As already mentioned it was very hot for the race, certainly too hot for me. Almost as soon as we left the road I lost the will to run although I was certainly competitive on the decent gaining back several places.
Thanks to the organisers and the friendly marshals for their sterling work, I suspect that I will be back next year looking to knock a few minutes off to break the hour mark.
Thanks
That could've been the old route mapper?
I wasn't far off you approaching the summit but you must've steamed down to Hull Pot coz I ended up 2 'n 'alf mins plus behind by th'end. You did 60.23 actually..so not as slow as you thought! Ady did 60.58 and I was exactly 2 mins after Ady. Good race apart from that long section of road at the start..that's where I lost all my time on you. I can't stand runnin' on tarmac.
You had a good one Wharfee ~ you must have done some training lad !
My time of 54.51 was in 2000 so I think it was the same course as this year's, but can't be sure. My best ever is 51.33 in 1996 so I think that must have been the shorter course.
Tried to get a pint in the Golden Lion afterwards, but there was only one barmaid doing her stuff (and not that fast either!) and there were at least 15 folk waiting so we decided to visit the Black Horse at Giggleswick instead. Nice pint of TT Landlord in the beer garden.
Where you getting all the time stats from Wharfee? Not seen any results as yet....................
All on the push bike lad. Tha's ganna be a tough'un to beat..especially forranowdbuggalikeme!
Always 'ard to imagine how much faster we used to be many years ago. You can feel to have a really good run then you look at old race results and realise tha's not as young as you was!
