We get a sheet of paper with control descriptions on don't we? That's what I always count as "paper".
I never use a pen on the OMM as the maps are pre-marked, but I guess will have to pack one anyway.

If you're on a line course (E,A etc.) you won't need to write on the map. I just stick a post-it and a tiny pencil in my first aid kit.
I'm dragging a mountain marathon virgin round the Elite course which should be fun/interesting.
Aiming for about 4kg each pack weight.
got mine down to 5kg, which is a kg more than the saunders & RAB. In previous years did they require a first aid kit each, rather than one per team? I can see the logic of one each to be honest, although a tri bandge each seems a bit much!
7.5kg now after trimming the enthusiastic food and one or two duplicates.
My sleeping bag weighs 1kg in its drybag(a down Vangom Venom 300)
The rest is just one-of-everything on the list. A lot of my stuff is via eBay and is a few seasons old, but serviceable, so not the lightest + most current.
I have all the food(1600g, lunch, dinner, breakfast and tea/coffee/biscuits), and stove(MSR superfly, but I have got 220g gas as we'll be in camp from 14:00 to 08:00 next day), and my mate the tent.
In fairness I'll probably be wearing the midlayer and waterproofs at 07:00 saturday, until we get going and warm up, so that will knock the best part of 1kg off
Spatcher - a 'wound dressing' is usually whats also called a shell dressing or sometimes an ambulance dressing. Its a crepe bandage with an absorbent pad on it about 6" from one end. They come rolled up in sealed/sterile packets, you unroll the short end, apply the pad to the 'wound' and wrap the rest of the longer end around the whole thing to secure it. They work best on something like a long gash on a limb. If blood leaks through dont take it off, you just apply another on top.
Good luck - my last KIMM in the Howgills was in a deluge, we got washed out and retired half way round day one. I was out training there earlier this week, a few controls out already!
Will a 100 or a 125g canister really not do? Last year in the Rab I used a bit less than 40g (solo), so I took the same canister this year, and despite having some very long burns on Sunday morning due to the cold temps and my failing to keep the gas warm, it still has 20g left. That's with a pocket rocket, using a bit of foil instead of a lid, and a bit more foil as a rubbish windbreak.
In the last mile of my last training run for the OMM on Sunday I went sprained my ankle, my mate who was running behind me said it looked pretty spectacular as my ankle went through 3 plains of movement in one go as :w00t: he put it. I could not run on it and had to sit down for 5 minutes before I limped back to the car stopping at two burns on the way to soak it.
I was unable to get to the Physio until today, his first words when I removed my sock was “wow” :o to the sight of the bruising, he has recommended I don’t run the OMM. He has prescribed “ice bucket treatment” 3 times a day; the thing is I can walk with little to no discomfort, OK my leg and foot are black and blue but I can stand on one leg OK. Still thinking of doing the OMM on Saturday.
Anybody else suffered similar symptoms?
