damm , bloody missed it :(
is it repeated
If anyone missed it or doesn't get BBC2 Scotland then you can watch it here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/player...ureshow_bnrace
If anyone gets a DVD copy I'd be up for one, at a reasonable price!:)
You were on twice Stagger - both times with a speaking part. Karl Gray was a tad unlucky not to get a mention and Shazza Taylor was a bit controversial at the end. Was good fun spotting the red and white stripes.
What was Shazz being controversial about Crowhill ? I missed it
She wasn't happy that Jackie Lee had been escorted down by Lloyd T.
p.s. There's a big piece on Calder Valley's 21st birthday run (and Karl and Ben's storming Shepherd's Skyline Race) in today's Evening Courier. I think its in the Hebden Bridge Times as well. Cheers.
i dunno and am not in any positon to have an opinion on it - just repeating (or at least paraphrasing) what was said. i think its being discussed on another thread if you want to comment...

I enjoyed the TV coverage. I feel it reflected the sport in a very positive way.:)
Gaz, you can read the article online, just Google in Hebden Bridge Times. I think Clive is saving me the paper hopefully. Its a good article and I think we have both sneaked in the photo's too !
Has anyone got best advice on how to trian for this one ? I've done about 1.57 in the past but I'm sure I can beat that with some proper training.
C'mon it New Year, we have got to have The Ben Race on the first page of the Forum on the first day of 2008.
Thought you had all forgotten about it !!!!!!!!!!
How is all the training going.
The big one will soon be here 8 Months & 1 week ish away
Hope you have all had a Cracking New Year. Best Wishes for 2008
Pressume I'm still on the reserve list, anyone know how I can find out?
Ady, I suppose a quick email to the Secretary would be in order!
[email protected]
Good Luck
Cheers
Have just emailed, see if I get a response. Would be good to show the reserve list though as many entrants do drop out. Early days yet but one needs to know if extra hill reps are required by at least June!!
Apparently I am verey high up on the reserve list and it is down to runners who are not going to turn up through injury or whatever to let the race secretary know.
So if your'e not going to go let him know :)
I can't believe it's all about reserve lists EIGHT MONTHS before the event!
Looks to me like there's room on the calendar for a second Ben Nevis race. The second one could go up and back over Melantee, thus making it a much better race as well.... ;)
No, I'm not volunteering to organise it!! :D
grisedale is an awesome race anyway stan :)
True, it was set up originally as an alternative to the Ben in (I think) the 80s because the Ben had an extortionate entry fee (double that of the next most expensive on the calendar) and people were getting cheesed off with that and the fact that it used to fill up by June (!!!).
Originally, the Grisedale was quoted at the same figures as the Ben (10/4400) but they have since realised it has even more climbing than that!
Apart from it being the highest hill in the country and thus kind of sacred, I'd have to say the Ben is second best to Grisedale as a race..

Great idea. This race would be about the same length as the classic Ben, and cut out two miles of road and about three miles of horrific paved footpath. It would spare the feelings of hundreds of hill walkers on the path who just happened to have chosen that day for their ascent of Ben Nevis. The total ascent would be roughly 1000' more, would include all the best bits of the descent from Ben Nevis itself, and would include the slopes of Melantee, with which I am not familiar, but I expect they are lovely.
I suspect the Ben is held when it is partly because that is the narrow time slot when snow, old or new, is least likely.
It's a long time since this thread was at the top. I hope the training is going well for everyone.
