Apologies if you have already seen this but Peter Jebb asked us to make a short film of the event a few years back.
Just might get you in the mood.....

Thanks for the video Alan.
A massive well done to my Peejay and all his helpers over the years.
Sorry to hear this is your last RO.
Hope the race goes well.
Can't attend due to pacemaker fitting.
Enjoy your pint in the afternoon Sir.
Planning on being there - looking forward to it - it's been on the bucket list for a while.
There used to be a prizegiving and a pint at the King's Head after this race, but this doesn't happen any more does it? Last time it was prizes in the field and no pub.
Prize giving used to be held in the Kings Arms until it closed down a couple of years ago.
However, it has since re-opened so that means Kettlewell is back to 3 pubs. Kings Arms, Blue Bell, Racehorses.
I'll be in the Blue Bell for a well earned pint of Golden Pippin.
Si thi tomorra.
Weather forecast for the race is wet and windy, so come prepared with full body cover please.
Prize giving will be on the field again this year.
and.... a reminder that car parking is available on the new camp site on the Coniston Road £3 if you need it.
Pete
Really enjoyed it today, not exactly my best performance personally but I've wanted to do this race for ages so it was worth turning up and having a crack. Some great technical descents, bit of bog, fast paths and challenging uphill grinds. Pretty much all the boxes ticked there for a classic race. Thanks PeeJay and everyone else involved.
Had to get off pretty sharpish so no idea on the results, if anyone spotted them or took a snap please feel free to share.
Thanks PeeJay
Brilliant race as always yesterday, definitely one of my favourites! Thanks Pete and team for organising it.
This was my second time at the race, and for good reason. It was one of my first fell races last year and I put it straight in the diary after running - brilliant race with a particularly awesome descent (which I need to get better at) Cheers Pete
Glad you all had fun, i had stuff to do.
As I explained in an earlier post, I have now ceased organising this event and next year it will be in the safe hands of Wharfedale Harriers.
One important issue though, was how to dispose of the funds this event has accumulated over the years. The race has been organised directly by myself, my family and friends and not by a running club or any other organisation. My plan was to donate the whole of the funds on behalf of the fell running community to the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association, but meanwhile, before I got my act together to do this, we have had the unfortunate devastating floods in Cumbria and I therefore took the decision to donate £1000 to the Ullswater Environment Recovery Fund, which is part of Nurture Lakeland. The donation was made in the name of the fell running community and not myself and I have received a very appropriate email back from them thanking us for the gift. I'm sure you will agree with my decision and we can rest assured that the money will go directly to assist in the rebuilding the infrastructure of an area so badly desecrated by the floods. The remainder of the Great Whernside Fell Race funds will go the UWFRA in due course.

Great choices of charities Pete
I'm sure your fabulous race will be in good hands with the Harriers
A true and generous gesture by a gentleman of the same standing.
Well done Mr Jebb
Good to see the race will continue, classic Dales AS race.
Dan
Glad to hear the race will carry on, just marked it in my fixtures book - wanted to race it this year but something came up on the day, so, 2016 it is!
Attachment 8308This was the start of the fell on the current leg one of the Hodgson Brothers Relay, the wooden bridge that we used to cross, ended up in the lake - this donation and that from the relay event itself will be a fantastic boost to the community efforts in restoring access to the fells around Ullswater.
Race details
There probably won't be an official post from the organiser on here, since Pete Jebb has passed organisation of the race over to Wharfedale Harriers; not many of whom, other than myself, post on the forum.
There is an official race car park this year and a parking charge of £2. The field is back out of the village on the lane to Conistone just past the Kettlewell campsite, most likely the same field used to host the Kettlewell Relays in 2011. Registration will be in this field, not the usual on by the start. Registration will close at 11.15am.
The weather looks as though it will be fair, but as with previous years when Pete was in charge, full best practice kit is what you need to bring and decisions will be made by the RO on the day.
Not forgetting it is a championship race next year so either time for a recce or last time for 2 year.
Looking forward to this. Not done it before. Thanks for the information Mr Brightside
Ha ha ha Mr B. If I remember correctly I think you were guided in to land with a couple of wing men.
You were found wondering around on the moor.
Your old mate Oxy and a fat lad managed to coax you down and keep you vertical back into the loving arms of the grand master.
