Nice one Dominion.
No. 10 looks particualrly knackered. Oh yeah thats me and I was.
Anyone know what happened to Tony Audenshaw ( Bob off Emmerdale ) He came past me on Mill Hill and he's on the photos at Edale Cross. Cant see him in the results though
Tony definitely finished, saw him come in the finishing funnel. no idea on placing
Think I recognised him coming through Dimpus Clough, looking comfortable.
Tony Audenshaw (AKA Tony Lee) !?
I really enjoyed the race but looking at the photos you wouldn't think so, the only runner not grimacing is the labrador. It wasn't that bad
Also the pictures suggest that I run like a drunk giraffe, I guess this is probably true :(
Is it too early to be looking forward to running this again?
Hopefully the weather will be as good as last year.
I think I'm gonna give it a go this year. A nice little Sunday outing is just what I need.
Looking forward to this race tomorrow. I'm a first timer for this one although I have recce'd it. However, I'm pretty sure the actual race doesn't visit Peep O Day twice like my recce did!!
Does anyone have a reliable local forecast? I'll be happy with anything other than clag!
MWIS (http://www.mwis.org.uk/pd.php?fdate=130623) says:
Cloud on the hills?
VariedCloud base will vary. Extensive cloud to low levels in heavy showers. However cloud will lift at times to 600m or above, giving some breaks to summits. Cloud base generally highest toward evening as showers die out.
Chance of cloud free Summits?
60%
I'll take that.
looking at the forecast I'd say possibility of rain, less wind than kinder downfall day for sure, so similar to today which had clear vis on the tops, warm and muggy with a couple of decent downpours. mixed bag then really!!
I'll be somewhere around chunal crossing/burnt hill cheering you all on.
Should be a good day for it. See you all there :0)
Haha.. That was magic today. The most fun you can have in your shorts on this side of Kinder.
Great to see a few of the forum gang out enjoying the crazy weather.
Thanks to RO and everyone else involved.
Well Done Tim....and the other 190+ Troggers....'Twas almost perfect conditions (for me), but sadly unable to trot round today in those beautifully damp, misty & blustery conditions....some even decided to explore some bit's ) Off Piste!! A Very Big Thank-you to Carl & The Moriarty Clan + Hayfield Scouts and their friends & parents...not forgetting....the massed ranks of PFR/KFR and their associates who manned the CP's and provided plenty of scram back at Race HQ!!!! A top day I'd say ....plus, ta' to those who gave me entries for this years Hayfield Champs, which is shaping up nicely, details and a bigger list of entrants will be found soon'ish in the usual place (Thanks Steve) http://www.cs.man.ac.uk/~temples/hc/ ....plus plus....local photographer Oliver Nuttall was taking race pics', a link to them should appear soon'ish too (probably here!)...... Next Race in the Series is Cracken Edge..see you there...plus plus plus... well done Tom Brunt & Caitlin Rice, 1st Lad & Lass back today and PFR Blokes & Lassies who took the Team Prizes :)!!!!!!!...Royal Next....phew....
Completely knackered right now but that was spectacular. Not really a BL kind of chap but wanted to make amends for my horror-show at Heptonstall earlier this year so am chuffed with 2.26. Can't remember much of the course at the moment but I know I bloody loved it - thanks to all involved in org and marshalling, some serious commitment in that weather at the top!
That was an ace race today. Many thanks to everyone who gave up their Sunday to allow me to run around scantly clad in the wind and rain. The weather was sufficiently poor to make it a bit more interesting. Having not run some of the course before I could easily have become one of the off piste posse after losing sight of runner ahead and behind (felt a little lonely when it was just me and a rather large cow!).
LuvShack - I meant to give you a Champs entry but had to get one of our guys home, I drop it in the post as I'm not sure I can make Cracken Edge (which is a real shame :( )
the trog, always a brilliant race, and I thoroughly enjoyed it today.
Thanks as ever to the organisers, the marshals and the folk that make this kind of thing happen.
Well, its that moment you've all been breathlessly waiting for. My indeterminably long first person account of the race.
(I swear you all just go on the blog to look at lynnes photos....)

nice write-up and well done zephr. don't recall seeing the Liberator wreck at all, from Burnt Hill to Big Stone I was just following the man in front...
Alas, I was one of the ones going "off piste"! My sincerest apologies for the guy I talked into coming with me; I've felt bad ever since. He probably believed me due to my Pennine top but my local knowledge once the mist is down is 2/5th of bugger all!
Apart from the detour, a throughly enjoyable day out, the weather only adding to the enjoyment. Many thanks to Carl and the crew for a top day out.
literally no idea if I went the wrong way at all.
You didn't visit both of those Kinder Low trig points did you? (Can't believe anyone could do that...)
I noticed when I walked down into New Mills at about 3pm that Kinder was pretty much clear by then. Typical eh?
By the way, I picked up an OMM water bottle on my way back down somewhere near Burnt Hill. I handed it in to Carl back at the Scout hut - hopefully it was returned to the owner.
Results - all 197 of them - on the URL below. Thanks to Fran for sorting these out pronto...
Cheers, Steve
I've just been looking at a map and I was with the group that contoured across Cluther Rocks instead of taking the Pennine way and on to Kinder Low. At least I think thats where we got lost. I reckon we lost about 40\50 places as well. I remember being counted off the hill before as 96 but the next time I was 140 something!
A good race again in pretty awful weather again. Managed to not get lost by sticking to Julien once Tim had dropped me and I'd lost sight of his yellow jacket in the fog. Everyone getting lost made it interesting too as quicker runners who'd got lost were mixed in with everyone towards the end.
Pleased with 2:08 and 15th in really horrid weather and even more pleased that my dad, who fell badly on kinder, doesn't seem to have broken a rib after all.
Absolutely superb race. Well organised and great spirit. Thank you so much to the marshals, must have been pretty chilly up there.
Any links to the photos taken when we up on the hills?
I just can't wait to try it again to better my time now that I have a better idea of the route.
Thanks again all.
A cracking race - thanks to the marshalls who must have frozen their bits off up there, and a special thanks to the chap who got my mate and I (two outsiders from West Yorkshire) across to Edale Cross through the clag. I didn't clock his club colours - but since I couldn't see more than a few feet in front that's hardly surprising!
Loved my first Trog, which seemed to be an amalgamation of several shorter Kinder races. Weather turned out a bit worse than expected just for the race, but at least we could still run under control in the wind and we didn't get a sideways power shower like on Kinder Downfall race in April. Thanks to prior experience of the area my navigation went perfectly (even led others across part of the Kinder moonscape) and I felt strong and ran well pretty well to the end to finish in 2:43. I was expecting 3 hours plus. Result! Thanks to all the volunteers and marshals for freezing their bits off up there in flaming June for our enjoyment.
johnnyb1, we chatted in the tea queue afterwards. Glad your dad is OK after all.
The hardest bit was dragging my teenage daughter out of bed to help me marshal on Mill Hill, but as the race is a fund-raiser for her Scouts I persuaded her she had an obligation! To be honest, though, I think she quite enjoyed it. (It also means she'll get free 'tuck' this week).
Hi Guys , Im the photographer that took all of the official photos on the day they are available here

Original copy's are available to purchase for a small charge , Spred the word !
You both did a great job. It was very wet and windy when I went past you both.
On a side note. There was a young gent who was not looking well when I went past him near Kinder Low trig point. I offerened him some food but he didn't take it. When I got into the scout hut after the race he was being wrapped up in a lot of coats and being feed a lot of food. I assume he was OK in the end. Can anyone confrim?
I passed him looking rather wet and miserable too (him not me). I was wet and happy :-)
I had to shoot off as soon as i'd finished because the guy I was with had to catch a train. I didn't change out of my wet clothes and just put a fleece on. I started shivering in the car on the way home and ended up pulling over, stripping off at the side of the road and eating my emergency Mars Bar. It funny how it can creep up on you.
