12 mile ride to work was at least 85% safer with the schools shut and no crazed parents on the road. Lovely quiet ride! not looking forward to hauling my rucksack over Monks Road to Hayfield for a Pennine run later though...
Rode 6 miles (round trip) to physio appointment
Then post swim 11 miles :) feeling good - realized that wasn't as unfit as I thought when I remembered to check my tyre pressure (how schoolgirl can you get??)
Rest day for me, after 5 consecutive hard days... will be interesting to see how I do tomorrow, on an even harder set on the turbo... already started to notcie the difference last night! :)
Got knocked off my bike today by some nobheads near my sisters. Thought it was funny to swerve at me to try and shit me up but ended up clipping my back tyre and sending me flying into a parked car. Cut up like a bloody cake now. Grrrr
Rode 12 miles to work and then the 10 from work to Hayfield. Climbed Monks Road from Broadbottom, with a heavy pack on my back, I'm not ashamed to admit that I nearly got off up Chapel Brow!
Managed to stay on the bike and was rewarded with a fantastic descent in to Hayfield and the first leg of the Mini Trans Pennine relay. Got a lift back to Manchester.
Be careful out there Tom and everyone else!!!
I got knocked off my bike at Easter, thought I got away with some scrapes and bruises and the shock, but transpires I damaged my shoulder, probably worse than it feels even... Looks like a severe tear that needs an operation to repair it... Been told to expect to be out of ANY action for about a year :( :( :(
I have entered Three Peaks CX, with the confidence my shoulder will be sorted by then... fingers crossed!!!
hope you ok TT
Hann what beastly training you on today after your rest day??
Ratfink, I have been doing 20 minutes at lactate treshold, in blocks of 5 minutes at 50-60 cadence at 160 beats alteranted with 110 cadence at 160 beats... He said Wednesday that I had to do 30 minutes today, but just checked to see how my rest day was yesterday and has decided I have to do 40 minutes... I tried getting out on the road, but that is not the same, as you get too much 'rest' in the 40 minutes, so out on the turbo I shall be... Think the man wants me dead ;)
I wasn't aware of the penny farthing race being part of track and field leagues previously??

Sorted out a training route localy with mostly hilly road with the 3 peaks in mind(get out anough on the fell with the bike) but taking in longridge fell and a nice rough muddy rocky drop through the woods from the trig, 25 mile about close to 3000+ft climb
Some guy with a very very clean high end road bike who I past said "maby its about time you got a new bike"
As i was ghost shifting with a mech n chain caked in mud:confused:
Big ponce I thought stick to the road
Nice gentle ride to work 63 minutes.
In the saddle all the way, using the gears and spinning the legs.
Still tender from Saturdays race.
Properly blew up this morning on the holmfirth road. Been pushing with another cyclist all the way until I passed the Huntsman and I got wobbly leg syndrome.
Home again and even though the legs were tired I put my best time in on the last 2 mile hill up to home.
Thats 36 mile logged for this week and its only Monday. :-)
Next time carry on into holmfirth, go along woodhead road until you reach holme, take to left the digley reservoir and head back on to Isle of Skye road. Nice little climb to be found there. Once you hit Isle of skye go straight over in to meltham then take the left to go over wessenden head, another cracking little climb that'll bring you back onto isle of skye then left back to dovestones.
Have you done any hill reps on the chew reservoir road?
Yeah I do on my neighbours mtb...3 times from the bottom and try and get under 50 minutes
Must have put something special on my weetabix this morning, 30 miles (well 28.9), 2700ft of ascent in 2:05....will get under 2 hours
Dovestones-mossley-stalybridge-Ashton-Oldham-lees-2 laps of Grotton, Mossley, Lydgate, Grotton-mossley station-roughtown road-new earth st-lees road-quickedge road-lydgate-star inn-Delph-uppermill-church inn-tunstead-dovestones
I wouldn't do Chew Res reps on a road bike as the gravel and 'speed bumps' on the way down could shred a tyre I think- then again I'm a newbie and it might stand it. Hybrid bike would do
It's been a while since I was up there but from what I remember it should be ok. Can't be any worse than the col de finestre and plenty of people ride that beast.

Just trawled some pictures and the speed bumps are pretty frequent so could be a little problematic. Funny I don't remember then from when I was last up there.
No road ride for me today as didnt have time. Left it late but jumped on my rollers for a very tough 95mins in the 12 sprocket. Bloody hard
Was outside on the drive and it started raining fairly heavy which made the rollers fairly slippy.
Tough after last nights fell race
I went out for 1.5 hours on the road in the pooring rain, steady pace, with three 1 minute full blast intervals with 3 minute recoveries thrown in...
I can't imagine how slippery my rollers would get outside... think I'd slide off sideways :w00t:
To work this morning (18 mile)on winter road bike. Wet roads this morning and heavy rain showers forcast for this afternoon.
Put the waterptoof in and just treating it as fitness training.
Got home dry, could have used summer bike. Would have been more gentle on my tired quads.
Well that's 72mile logged and its only Wednesday. (oh and a gentle 4 mile jog yesterday)
Good work Stagger. You going to do the full 5 days?
Got soaked to the bone tonight... good hour on the road in the porring rain and wind... but a good ride! Two weeks of structural training received from a pro and already noticing the effect :)
Today's was just in front of Cavendish :)
Brett did you get to visit the castle?
Another bike ride with my mat Katy, she is training for Hathersage Hilly Tri (i know - total disregard for "the rules") - I leant her my nice bike, and I was on my commuter/winter bike, just about 12 mi (following swim).
AAAAARGH!
RATFINK!!!!! :w00t:
25 Hail Merckx's for you and wash your mouth out with swarfega!!!
About 55 miles tonight up to beeley and back with a few hills in. Punctured in the rain and my hands got cold.
I was frozen when i got back. Bloody july.
Tail wind all the way out but heading back south it was tough going until the turn down at duffield.
