Morgans winning/ability reminds me (very fondly) of Frank Lofthouse, who won the (Jennings etc) Lakes Mountain Tri, a truly Mega Event; Frank also got there by bike (each year I think) and did bike home too....but on one occassion he did (eventually) accept a lift, which did save him trying to bike back to Preston (from Loweswater Village Hall) with a huge 1st Prize Painting strapped to his back....!:)!

I can only second what has already been said by others but:
What a superb day out, a big thankyou to all the marshalls and those involved with the race organisation.
Support from spectators and competitors who had already finished certainly lifted me at the finish.
People at my local club think I'm a bit daft spending 6-7hours driving to the Lakes and back for a race, but days like this make it all worthwhile, brilliant:)

That sums it up for me too Fellgazelle.
Left a rainy Lincolnshire for a cracking trot around the hills, came home to more rain.
A mega day out, thanks again to all involved.:D

Yep, same here. (well Nottinghamshire in my case).:)

Thanks to Wynne and Steve and everyone involved, and all the other runners for the freindly banter before, during and after. Really enjoyed it this year, not really running till after Robinson but feeling good after that.

Its the Carnethy5 of the English fell scene, and I can't give much higher praise than that.

Hey stumpy I 'originate' from the chilterns - born in High Wycombe but lived in Aylesbury for a fair while then a small village just outside (Quainton) before heading north in 1997. I used to do all sorts of runs on the escarpment above Wendover and round the back of Chequers. I still miss running in proper beech woods :(

Hi Stolly - the Chilterns are pretty good running country for sure, especially the section of the Ridegway around Wendover and Chequers - often use that route home from Wendover Station after work. I'm very lucky in that I can run from my back gate in Hazlemere straight into the AONB. The only problem with Beech woods though is I often forget where I am and get lost when in a bit of a running trance!! Can't see them for rain today though - much better weather oop north - got a bit sun burnt on the AW yesterday :D
