5 x 5mins in and around daisy Nook area. Well actually ended up going through Woodhouses to Clayton Bridge. Made it up from there as I wasn't really sure where I was but eneded back up at Daisy Nook!
20.16 mile/4854' Did the Stretton skyline route today.Never run this far before but felt pretty good coming down the valley at the end.Nice and steady with camelbak on.Wore speedcross 2's and had no soreness, blisters or anything :) Went slightly wrong a few times (nothing major) hence the slightly extra miles(should be 19ish)..thanks for the route Rhys ;)
19.4 miles off road at target pace for my 30 miler in 4 weeks.
A pleasant run from Edale up Grindsbrook to Ringing Roger and back to Edale via Ollerbrook.
Home - Plantation - Wimberry - Nav out to Inspection Chamber (missed it, found pipeline and nav'd straight onto it) - nav out to Bowerclough Head upto Chew Hurdles, Stable Stones Brow, Wimbery, descend, Plantation and home...Fantastic nav conditions, vis down to about 20/30ft at times from Wimberry to inspection chamber (Irontongue Hill).....Thigh deep heather and knee deep peat - ideal running surface
All told 2.19.33hrs, crackin' outing :)
Short 4m/1292ft trot before tea, busy buggering about with caravan and buying endless bits and bats for it, never realised caravaning was that complicated:confused:
Respect to Gypsies;)
6ml or so this morning from home on the Dales Way and over Pike Haw farm. I ran around 65miles in July and 75miles in August with just a couple of short races and I'm enjoying running for fun after a hard 1st half to the year focused on training for the Yoredale 100.
45 mins by the side of the canal in Ashton Under Lyne
First time out on the good stuff for over a month due to resting for achilles tendonitis. 8 miles from bridge inn, horwich, up to two lads, over smithills moor, smithills shooting hut along the wall (boggy) to the mast then back to two lads and down. Really enjoyed it but achilles still hurting. Have now come to the conclusion that resting it dosn't work, so I'm going to enjoy my running and just hope it goes eventually.
A 2 hour loop over the moors into the Rossendale valley at a steady pace taking in Hameldon hill and Liver hill. A longish bike tommoz and a 90 minute evening run planned.
No wonder this country is in a mess ~ no-one is at work except me
Only time for a light 20 min run last night around the XC routes of Cronton. Hopefully a longer one after work today.
40 mins fartlek today by the canal around Hyde, warm at lunchtime
Greenfield, thru plantation upto Wimberry Over to Alphin, descend and back to Greenfield...Going through plantation and watching lightening strike twice around Dovestones res was brilliant...and it hailed....Saddleworth summers can't beat 'em;)
5 mile am
Bloody work- all day long. Big shock!!!
Warm up, 4 x 2mins, 1 min jog, 4 mins, 90 secs jog. Warm down. On the car parks of Sports City as City B team were playing.
A steady 5.64 mile on the roads with Tryfan and Sinatra after work tonight.
35 mins around Daisy Nook
a steady hilly 5 mile this morning around Ewden and Strines road. More to come tonight.
Greenfield upto Pots N' Pans, across to Alderman and back home....have we skipped autumn and gone straight into winter , hail and winds so strong (around 4.30pm) that I could hardly stand on Aldermans summit. Tilly, my dog none too impressed at being forced from her cosy bed and sent headlong into the maelstrom:D
A light 3 mile on the grass at 9.15pm tonight first time out with head torch in very wet conditions. Cut the run short due to thunder and lightning.
The usual early pm jaunt (if it's quiet in the office that is): 4 miles on hilly roads inc 2 x 500ft climbs. Pooped now, time for tea and a banana or two...
Lunchtime 25 mins on treadmill, hated very minute of it
After work 27 mins to get that treadmill out of my system, round Old Glossop, two runs in a day a long time since i last did that !
A swampy 6 miles. The fields and moors around Hameldon are saturated, makes for very heavy going. Noticed my shoes are getting to the fooked stage now, studs fairly OK but panels are starting to part company with the main body of the shoe. Hope they manage the task ahead of them on Saturday, be a shame if I had a stormer and then my shoes fell apart 2 miles from the end :)
A 5.5 miler with Tryfan after work around the Trail & XC paths of Pex Hill in sunshine. Very wet and muddy under foot though after the torrential downpours of this afternoon.
5m/1250ft Very boggy on Norland Moor and loaded with snappy/barky dogs:eek:
4 x hill reps on Alphin, followed by a trip across to Wimberry. Arrived at Wimberry with the sun just on the horizon, beautiful evening and gorgeous colours in The Chew, life is good :).
However back to torrential rain again this morning, hope to get a run in this afternoon.
T'other night 3 of us spent some 2 hours on a circular route up from Holme and around Black Hill / Holme Moss. Bucketing it down all the way round, blowing a gale and v. poor visibility on the tops - even the HM mast was obscured by cloud. Bombed out at the end and came down the road section - v. glad to get out of the wind at that time of night.
As bad weather as I've run in over the past 6 months, more akin to TOP conditions! :p
A short 3.3 mile run around Pex Hill in very boggy and very wet conditions tonight. Second run of the week using the head torch.
this is more like a weeks training:
I've been to Horton in ribblesdale since saturday, camping, misery, mud, wet.
Sunday, did three peaks run, the time is well over what it should, i bloody hurt my left knee descending whernie, by the time i got to the botton of ingle, i had to keep stopping and starting due to the pain. However, covered in mud, soaked and in pain, still managed to do it well under the good walking times, but could have knocked an hour and a half off!!
Got to compliment nuun tabs, not one bit of cramp, mudclaw 270's: Not one blister.
Monday: knee playing up, so gentle walk along river to helwith bridge then up ghent.
Tuesday, knee seemed better so i had a nice trot from Horton to foxup and back. Tuesday night, tent developed a leak so i slept in a wet bag, i was so knacked i didn't bloody care.
Wednesday: booked into the bunkhouse at the station inn, Ribblehead. Then had a run up whernie and back, worst weather i've ever experinenced on the fells.
Thursday, nice run up park fell to ingle, then back down to the road and back to ribblehead.
That was it, my legs were not happy and the weather had finally broken me
Friday; home, warm bed and beer:D
4 hill reps at Dovestones this morning, just short of 200 metres each one. Bright sunshine and no rain.
NOT the time to be doing such foolish things at 8 in the morning....bl**dy agony. Next time I'll wait until the afternoon at least!
A bit over 2hours steady trot / bog-snorkel / doggie-paddle on a very wet Ilkley Moor and the surrounding area. Found it hard work tbh; especially as the sun has now decided to come out at last!
A steady 6 mile in the mud this afternoon on Pex Hill. Found it hard work today probably due to not having much to eat since this morning.
Twice yesterday :D
An hour in the morning, nice and easy, Alderman area.
1.25.00hrs in the afternoon, Greenfield to Alderman, Broadstone Trig, Slades Barn, Pobgreen upto Pots and Pans back over to Alderman and home....Sat outside after run in the sun with nice cold can of lager......Crackin' days running :)
Work today but hope to get an hour in tonight..
32 mins around Mossey Lea in Old Glossop
Usual "hour to spare" run - Greenfield, Alphin, Wimberry, descend, plantation, home....Easy pace run today after work, 1.05.13hr.....Conditions ranging from sunny to monsoon....Nice to get out..:)
