Went for a recce of Loughrigg Silverhowe race route as not done it before and going to the race in a couple of weeks. Loads of route choices. Lower fells nice and clear but high fells looking a bit claggy.
6.4 miles home from the northern edge of Standedge. Down the Pack Horse route to Easter gate and home through Marsden. 630 ft of ups in 56 mins.
Recce of the Anniv Waltz today and the weather was as forecast, with the cloud base starting at the scrambly bits on Robinson. Didn't see a view again until i descended Maiden Moor. Stiff headwind off Robinson and driving rain for a spell. Pleasantly, surprised myself that the compass actually worked! Avoided Deep Gill and hit the Hindscarth path on the nail. Sadly, complacency led me to flounder around trying to find High Spy, but from then on, it was easy-peasy, albeit soooooooooooo slooooooooooow (2 hours 37 mins! village hall doorstep to village hall doorstep- tut - but what the heck :) ).
Just shy of 10 miles around Ripley and Hampstwaite, including the trail bit of the Guy Fawkes 10. Lots of pheasants around. Swear I saw a black one!
13 mile loop of Ilkley Moor. Happy to say I got the best of the weather this morning too !
Quick post work blast round a 7 mile loop, huge fun
6 mile quickie in the mud down the banks of the Kent from Kendal to Sedgwick and back. Grey wet and Murky. Perfect.
Yesterday from Kentmere hopped over to Longsleddale, up on to Harter Fell, down to Mardale Head, up on to High Street over Rough Crag, Thornthwaite Crag, Garburn Pass and back to Kentmere. Reckon around 25k/1800m, which makes 60k/3500m for the week, which is a big improvement on two weeks off full of lurgy!
An eventful run to the top of Sandy Gate, lovely view of Meugher and Great Whernside from the top, didn't see any one until on the way back down via Mosdale Scar when i came across 2 people that had been working on the Moors who had managed to come off the access track in their 4x4 and get stuck in a drainage ditch, so stopped to help them and between us we got it free, otherwise it would've been a long way back for them on foot.Attachment 5728Attachment 5729
