What a fantastic race - really challenging and punishing, brilliant. Thanks a lot Ian - for all the pe-race tips too - and all who helped out and organised, superb job.
Really good to meet Derby Tup and Merry at the start too.:)
Took last-minute decision to go left at Crowden and take Wild Boar Clough route and handrail the fence - convinced now this is the best way, so thanks to the blokes en route who advised it! ;)
Got round far quicker than I'd expected, thanks in large part to my mates who set a cracking pace and pulled me on their coat-tails.
Feel well-battered today.
Great hat Emm !
When I looked out of the window at the weather on Sunday morning I didn't immediately miss the fact I had to pull out of the race this year but when I viewed the pics of you all splashing around in Crowden "Brook" I changed my mind :D
Well done everybody.
At Lawrence Edge, I went up the side of the fence adjoining the out of bounds shooting area and almost got hit by a shower of shotgun pellets that zipped into the trees below me. From the sound they made they would probably have done less damage than the hailstones but it's worth watching out for in future.
Maybe worth the organisers tipping off the shooting folks to expect people going along the East Boundary.
Another vote of thanks to Ian, Andy, the Tanky family, Woodhead MRT, and all helpers and supporters. Another great race: one day soon we'll have blues skies again!
I think I'm going to have to find some bigger bogs to train on here in the Lakes. You forget how tiring they are when you're not running through them week in week out!

Too right! When I showed the photos to my Emma she said "Love the hat". I think she missed you during the race - she was playing in the woods at Crowden and then sheltering from the hail at the Snake. She did see Daz's hat, though, and wondered why he wasn't carrying a sack of toys as well.
Oh :( tell her I'm sorry I missed her. Only saw 1 small peep in the woods and he was with his mum at the stile.
It's great taking Dave out this time of year with his bell on, all the children think it's a reindeer coming....can never understand why they look so disappointed!!:D
Thanks to Andy and Ian
A great race on a tough day.
Also a big thanks to the helpers and Mountain Rescue.
Well done to Adam :).
thanks to Mark O for a good line up Lawrence Edge.
Brilliantly organised and a very good kit check at the start. Thats how it should be.
The weather was rough in places but then thats the Dark Peak in wintertime.
The climb up to Seal Flats killed me. Neil G and Katherine H gave me a drink of Lucozade. Really appreciated that. Thanks
Marko and myself tried to cut off Adam by contouring well left but he just dashed across the path as we had about 50ft left to climb.
I think the hardest part of the race is that damm short crossing at the end.
Nice touch with the Rescue Ale at the finish:)
Id highly recommend a Santa Hat
although it didnt quite match the tea cosy :). that a certain forumite wore
Daz....bloody well done!!!!!
