I've had 14 cars and the Chevette has to be THE worst one I have had - absolute pants!!
god when i think back all those years
the chevette had a hole in the petrol tank , but prices wasnt so bad then :o
when you did a sharp left turn the fuel gauge would suddenly go down dramatically as the fuel leaked out.
Also there was a way of starting them , remember these were manual choke days:eek:
They use to flood dead easy :(
The viva , yes david utter crap , not one of Lutons finest exports, my mums CANARY YELLOW one just used to die for no reason then start back up again , what a saga , you would never think of that happening nowadays.
There was a real knack to getting them started on a damp morning. Living in Rossendale at 800 feet above sea level there weren't many mornings that weren't damp . I also had a canary yellow Viva. What a heap of junk. I got mine up to 100mph on the clock coming down the M62 towards Rochdale once and I'm still shaking 30 years later .
yeah it was something like ignition key in , press the clutch twice , but the real key was not pressing the accelarator to far , if it wasnt in the exact spot it WOULD NOT start full stop
100mph , david its a wonder you ever recovered , it must have been shaking you to bits
morning kiddies!!!
