Re: LDWA events
It did feel like I was the only person out there for a time. I passed some walkers just after Parson's Pulpit, and other than the next marshal didn't see a soul until the approach to Weet's Hill. Felt like I was the only person out there for a while, so good to have all that expanse of land to yourself.
I found the 15 mile sign near Clapham High Mark a bit bizarre, a flourescent yellow road race like sign in the middle of the dales, with no roads or houses in sight!
I almost wish I was doing the 100 in a few weeks time to get back up that way.

Re: LDWA events
sounds like a good forum turn-out at Malhamdale
Lady Slugge & I did the 9:30 start too, but we were right at the back
our first ever LDWA Challenge event, but I'll be surprised if we ever do one that is much better than this
superbly designed route to show off unfettered views of the Dales in all directions at all times!
neither of us had ever done more than a half-mara distance before - Lady Slugge had a bad patch after Malham Tarn, but perked up in the latter stages
whereas I just ground to a halt after about 18 miles - still enjoyed the last 5, but VERY slow
Many Thanks to the organiser and those manning the check-points
good weather, sun-tan, chilli and beer - WHAT A DAY! :)

Re: LDWA events
just had an email reply from Alan Brignell, the RO for Peaker's Stroll (Jul.6th)
apparently, runners are welcome on all routes :D
with slower "jogger" type runners (i.e. me & Lady Slugge!) welcome to start with the walkers at 9:30am,
but faster "runner" runners starting at 11:30am

Re: LDWA events
Graeme,
I'm registered and hope to be there. Since it comes only two weeks after a very intense personal Ultra challenge I may be walking a lot, if I'm not incapacitated altogether
