So why is Nicola Sturgeon not pushing for an independence referendum vote at the moment?
Because she know's she'll lose it!

Er.... she is pushing for it https://www.gov.scot/binaries/conten...ands-hands.pdf
I think she's recently pledged to publish draft legislation for a new vote before next May
Its weird how you just spout things out, thinking presumably because you said them they must therefore be true
sounds like Sturgeon is going to lose, eh?
especially as support for independence has been the majority view for much of 2020 and as I said in an earlier post, "Not one poll since March has found a majority among Scots for remaining in the UK."
She must be crapping herself.
That document you refer to was published 9 months ago and would no doubt have been a few weeks in preparation so nearly a year old.
All I said was at the moment she doesn't seem to be pushing for it. Certainly not as much as she was 18months/2 years ago.
Its weird how you always seem to belittle anyone who has a different point of view or opinion to yours and because you disagree them they must be wrong.
I think it's time to stop the endless carping and celebrate this phenomenal success of the FRA Forum in getting up to 654,115 posts on topics mostly unrelated to fell running, which nobody would have known about until after earlier in the year.
Why don’t you switch off your computer and go and do something less boring instead? :)
You're showing your age there, DT ;)
Wait for tomorrow’s Double Deckers reference! It going to be ace
Who was it who was going to have a listen to Veedon Fleece? Marco I think . . .my phone called it Aberdeen Fleece btw
The trade will be fine.
Self levelling and no worries for me.
Dunno.
But I was prompted to put a stack of his albums on for a whole day - and although it felt like a lifetime - Veedon Fleece is one of his better ones. Shades of Astral Weeks but more accessible and without the radio friendly/ Top 40 song he started placing on his later records to persuade the unsuspecting to make a purchase after listening to just the first track (in the record shop listening booth!).
I hope you don't mind my saying so, Mr Park, but you seem to be a very angry sort of person, and someone who's never satisfied with life. (My apologies if that should be Ms. Park - I'm afraid I'm unfamiliar with the given name 'Witton'.) If so, perhaps one way to start coming to terms with your anger would be to ask yourself the same questions as you ask of others.
A whole day listening to 5 songs? Are you a bit more of a fan than you've been letting on? Might it be the case that not all of your posts are to be taken 100% literally? In which case, might Oracle have been being a bit unfair to you by characterising you as the sort of person who would push a little old lady out of the way in the Booths supermarket aisle in order to get to the last packet of Pontefract Cakes, or would deliberately ride their Bianchi at high speed through a puddle on the canal towpath in order to splash a group of picnicking nuns just so as to be able to shout out "Suck that up, you penguin losers!" at them? (One of the things I've learnt from this forum is what a Bianchi is.)
Oh, dear. (I never liked his songs, anyway. And he only actually had 5 different ones. I've always said they were all rubbish.) Perhaps Van the Man is Oracle!

On No More Lockdown, Morrison sings:
“No more lockdown / No more government overreach / No more fascist bullies / Disturbing our peace …
No more taking of our freedom / And our God-given rights / Pretending it’s for our safety / When it’s really to enslave …”
The song also condemns “celebrities telling us what we’re supposed to feel”, although the 75-year-old Northern Irish songwriter denied doing this himself.
One advantage I've found of my memory getting worse and worse is that I can re-read books, re-watch films, and re-listen to music numerous times with just a short break in between, and each time it's like the first time. Mind you, for some of the books, films and music in my collection, that's not a good thing!
Not angry at all. Covid aside life is good. However it's apparent that on this forum, more than ever at the moment, there are a few posters intent on trying to goad.
With regard to the subject of forum identity. You'll see my name mentioned at the bottom of all my posts and I've been around on this forum for quite a while and made no secret of who I am. So your confusion over my identity is puzzling. Mind you, it's also a remarkably similar approach to a few now apparently lapsed members of the forum which suggests some previous connection to old members, maybe not, but I suppose it's best not to go down that route.
Far better to just leave you to your own devices, which I will, although I'm sure you'll struggle to resist the urge as others also do.
Try and fight the demons.
Making a counter point doesn't seem to be good enough for a few of the forum members. They have to also leave a snide little cheap shot as well.
I take my hat off to Mike here. I do disagree with him, but I do accept he knows his stuff and he is always cordial, presents his facts, doesn't play the man.
I wish I could hold to his standards :)
Seems to me that some of those who think they’re being goaded, should be goaded to look at their own goading history first before goading others about their goading.... 😊
And, unlike me, has never (as far as I'm aware) called anyone an 'anonymous pr*ck' and justified it by saying something along the lines of "Unlike everyone else on here, I'm just a Northern lad, me, and so am allowed to call people a pr*ck?". Oh, hang on a minute, I haven't done that, either, have I? I think what I'm remembering is that someone might have said that to me, but for the life of me I can't remember who it was. Still, no matter.
Incidentally, and just out of interest, who else am I now? I'm not still Graham Breeze, am I? I thought the tablets the doctor gave me had cleared up that little problem I had. God forbid, I'm not Oracle, am I? That would be a blow. But, hang on again. I'm pretty sure I've already published quite a detailed CV on another thread to establish my credentials.
Alright, you lot, come on, own up. Which ones of you are me?
I thought I'd try to move this thread back towards its topic by mentioning that, for the drive to the car park to start my run this afternoon, I chose to listen to Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in the car. So, my question is, how would people rank Beethoven's Ninth relative to Veedon Fleece?
I thought I chose to listen to the Ninth because the tempo might get me in the mood for my run, but I later wondered if there was something more subliminal going on. When I got to the car park for the start of my run there were still a few minutes of the first movement left, so I sat in the car to listen to the end. I opened the sleeve notes to have a flick through while I was listening, and a phrase immediately jumped out of the page at me - "He begins the Ninth with an enigmatic, even irritating gesture". Was I being sent a message?
Hmm, I’m not sure who you are. But I reckon Fellbeast could be Stolly.Quote:

Do the maths Hancock!
How dare you!
Stolly as a long standing forumite wouldn't do that. Stolly was towards the end of his tenure apoplectic - I think the election was getting to him - his use of language would have made Fellbeast's hair curl.
He also hated the politics threads. He complained on and on about them, and the majority of Fellbeast's posts are on the politics threads.
I think he'd indicated he'd had enough and was off.
I can't see Stolly being so hypocritical as to come back with a new forum ID and engage almost entirely in topics that he had no interest in, at least on the forum. No not Stolly
Big brexit man.
Ha ha ha
Or Dales boy with no idea of the real world.
Stolly is a Cockney
I’ll take that as a compliment
Thinking that I’m Stoly that is. Not that Stolly is cockney 😊
