Did a chunk of the Lakeland 100 yesterday, Coniston to Threlkeld. 41.5 miles and about 10,000ft. That was straight off my eTrex though, I'd be surprised if we actually took in that much height.

Martyn, we met at the pub at Boot en route to Blencathra, I hope your day went well. My Garmin showed 41 miles with 10,000 ft of ascent, so your eTrex reading must be accurate. There is a lot of climbing on that section, the road book says the total ascent for that leg is 10,183 ft.
Good luck with the remainder of your preparation for the 100.
Hello Steve, thanks for that ... I've had some debatable results from that device before (it's one of the new eTrex 30s) so I'm pleased to have it validated a bit. Yes, it was a cracking day - was getting a bit weary by the time we got to Threlkeld though. I'm not actually doing the 100 myself .... the lads I was running with are, it's a formidable challenge and like you say there is a lot of climb early on - seriously boggy in places too. Very best of luck, I might give it a go next year.
11 miles from Marsden to Blackhill. 1950 ft of ups and downs. Nice.
A quick 6 miles over Scout Scar from Kendal. Warm and sunny. Its not now.
5k in 18mins 19s followed by chest, back and legs on the weights.
A six mile walk, with the occasional very gentle trot. Calf feeling a lot better. Was quite nice to be walking round a route I normally run round and get to see it properly!
