DP run over Alport with lots of climbing, racing the twilight back and just beating it. Could well be a return to head torches next week :))
Aye.. been caught out a few times now.. last week I was with the usual thursday group on the glyders as it was going dark.. one head torch between us all with no map and compass.. kept thinking if something goes wrong. could be in for a lot of 'I told you so's'..
Also getting much colder in the evenings now, real nip to the wind.. you get to catch stunning sunsets though at this time of year though..
Steady run up Siabod tonight.. then off to Switzerland then states, Maine, so should catch the fall.
It was virtually dark by the time we got back to the cars last night. I was glad of my Pertex jacket for the last 15 or 20mins too. The sunset was ace. Roll on the headtorch season! :w00t:
Steady 4.5 miler up and down Siabod.. lovely sunset, cold and windy.. I do far too much of these runs.. zero training benefit.. but its just so stunning to be out on the tops at sunset... Driving down the pass tonight was stunning, it actually made me sad thinking that I'm off to Maine tomorrow (via Switzerland).. it'll be stunning there in the fall.. but it won't be Snowdonia. Saying that I was running on Totley Moor at sunset just a few nights ago and its hard to know what's home.. a sunset in the peak is so different but equally special.
Moel Fenlli and Moel Famau times two - 13km, 800m ascent and just bloody lovely. Been working in london for the past few months and so evening runs on the hills have been rare. Done for enjoyment rather than training purposes ;)
8.4 miles. Pancake Stone, along the moors above The Cow & Calf to High Plantation. Up to West Buck Stones & along to Keighley Gate & straight down to The 12 Apostles & back via a Burley Moor loop. Heavy legs. Felt lethargic.......& old...........
9 miles and 389 ft run / walk looking for the Garmin I lost the day before on the CX bike, didn't find it grrr:angry:
Yesterday I ran in the Devils Beef tub hill race, ran that nearly 50 seconds faster than last years time, quite happy with that seeing it is such a short race, finish 8th.
I went down to the Lakes today, ran to top of Skiddaw then onto Great Calva, bloody windy on top, back to Keswick by the Youth Hostel path all with MM pack on, got to get some training done for the OMM.

A week spent in Teasdale, nice area. Not the biggest of hills but lots of bogs and not too many paths to make up for it. Ran every day but 1 and twice a day a couple of days.
Short run over Totley Moor area Sunday recovering from a wedding party the night before. And Today an 1hr 15m on the Shap Fells en route back to a rather driech Scotland.
Really going to have to get a long run in Wednesday before heading up to the far far north of Scottyland with the GF, Ben Alder run seems a while ago and the feet are twicthy for a beating. A day out on Fife coastal path may be on the cards!
