Sounds a great ride Iain, especially now that I know how beautiful it is up there :)
We all do Noel... especially in the beginning! It makes you into a real cyclist :)

Am toying with the idea of purchasing a mountain bike......budget around £150 (which i appreciate is fairly tiny) subject to wife's approval .....
any suggestions?
Is Halford's a bad place to look?
Want something that I can use on and off road that wont fall apart too easily.....
Thanks
Hmmm, £150 is not going to get you very much... If you only have that amount to spen, I would look for a second hand bike. Start checking the local trader magazines or whatever they are called... and maybe things like gumtree and Ebay?
Then again, I got myself a lovely Kona Caldera hardtail for £100 from a mate, so don't be disheartened :)
There's quite a few on Halfords for under £150, but I've no idea what they're like

Confusing or what?
Don't even think about full suspension for £150!!! It will be crap!!! My mate bought an MTB from Tesco for £40. For what he does - rides to the station and bike it's okay, but the pedals bust within a month, the bottom bracket is stuffed within 6 months and the brakes are utter shite...
My advice? Keep saving and ask again when you've got £350 to spend.
Cheers Dom, I bow to your experience.....I was enticed by thon wlesh duathlon in October you see
