Sorry to interupt all this Bristol based hilarity, but talking of tits.... Anybody see that bit in fellrunner about EA registration? If you're a member of the FRA you can register for free. I suppose it could save a couple of quid on road races, and I guess we could enter the FRA relays if we wanted.
Any thoughts? Anybody give a monkey's?
Right back to jugs :D
Hmmmmm... a Pony team in the FRA relays, I like the idea of it... :)
I suppose I better volunteer for the navigation leg, being a woman and knowing where I am going and all that :D
Pudge / Daz- I mentioned this an age ago on the pony thread but no-one responded....
The idea is indeed to encourage members of 'fellrunning only' clubs such as ourselves to have a go at xc and road and the like without being penalised (it also looks good for EA to have as many registered athletes on their books as possible i guess)......the tricky question is whether it would extend to team events.......the free EA membership is as individuals only which as I understand wouldnt therefore permit ponies to be counted as a team in a UKA event......that being said, some organisers are less fussy than Alias / Soppy Sack Norman Bates and may let you away with it.......on the other hand, the FRA relays being given their correct title- THE UKA fell and hill relay championships is clearly a different matter and we probably therefore would not be permitted to enter it as a club team as we are not registered with EA / UKA as a club team if you follow......that being said- a pile of EA registered individuals who compete for the same club (though not UKA registered) raises an interesting debate and I naturally would delighted to enquire on our behalf if the situation arises......I'm kleeping someone in a job in these recession hit times.....hope that is all suitably confusing as the rules demand
Oh, and i'll ask Al Fowler what kleeping means:p
"kleeping" is actually mentioned in the first rule of the handbook.
Paraphrased, it reads something like this......
"In kleeping with tradition, the purpose of the rules set forth in this handbook are to ;keep people guessing; keep purveyors of rules and upholders of law happy with enough wordplay to entangle the keenest of minds; to uphold a sense of mystery of the nature and common sense of these rules and the terms "First claim", "second claim" especially when applied with the other technical terms "fell-running" and "other competitions"; to enable many to twist these words to use for their own cause; to keep admin workers in a job in times of hardship; to greatly amuse little gobshits like fellmonster; to be used to restrict where possible by over zealous officials; be a source of great hypocrisy and merriment when dealing with issues such as race numbers..........."
The rules have once more served their purpose!
Are purpose's similair to dolphins?
They're both mammals which reminds me of...............................mammaries, back to jugs again:rolleyes:
<snigger>
That has certainly made my morning! Off to ride my bike up some Dutch hills on this sunny morning :)
Ponies vest arrived this morning in eye-searing fluoro green!
ooh XC! quite fancy a go at that next season - hopefully EA registration will help my cause in being admitted to the inner sanctum of this arcane closed area :D
I would be interested to be CC'd on the emails of this debate! ;)
Inner sanctum is right.....a good lot of the xc people are every bit as nice as fellrunners to be fair......you doooo get the odd muppet however that doesn't believe you've got a right to compete at xc if you're not a member of a UKA registered club......I would enjoy greatly telling them that you are EA registered as an individual if I were you.........and maybe you'd like to fold your number in front of them too.....hahahaha
I always fold my number... I am so small, I otherwise can't see the ground in front of me for it covering my whole body, including my eyes... :D
Actually, that is a lie...
As you can see form my avatar picture, me in recovery pose after Garburn Trail Race 2008, I actually tend to pin my number to my shorts... stops it from flapping and makes it easier to take off/put on layers without covering up your number... Obviously, I therefore always fold my number and have been told off on numerous occasions...
Anyway, I think folding numbers is good prcatice... and should be promoted until every race goes back to writing numbers on runners hands :D
Where are those moderators when you need them? ;) :p
