A steady 7 miler from Ambleside up to Red Screes and back. Miserable, cold, wet and windy on the tops with patches of snow and ice. Thawed out with a pint in the Golden Rule - great pub!
Set out this morning and had a great 2 hours around, up and down the burbage end of the dark peak.
Burbage moor was freeezing cold running through icy bog trods
A lovely run out 'up the dale' today with Yiannis and Stef today. Starbotton - Arncliffe - Kettlewell - Great Whernside (via Providence Pot) - Kettlewell - Starbotton
Various short runs (2 miles or a bit less - dog's getting a bit old for much more) over Christmas, turns out that running in mud in Evoskins is a tad slippy!
Gentleish 11km on the roads tonight, nipping round to a mate's house to deliver presents which had had the tags removed by an over-enthusiastic 2 year old. Hoping to get out on the hills tomorrow, and maybe even a pre-breakfast run on Saturday.
I had a run round the Edenfield fell race course this morning. Very windy/rainy and the clag was down on the tops. I spotted a few flags on the ascent of Cowpe Lowe presumably from the Whinberry Naze race?
Todays training was a slog.
5th week into an increased training load and very much looking forward to next weeks rest week. So far have notched up 257 miles and 46000ft, and loving every minute of it.
Bring on 2013
12km over the fells, near and across Stanage edge this afternoon. Plenty of rough stuff, main point of the trip was to try out my new thumb compass. Claggy drizzle made for perfect compass testing conditions! Think I'm getting the hang of it, after a bit of faffing about did a 2.4km leg (straight line from the "haunted house" near Redmires to High Neb trig for locals) and only missed it by about 50m.
Managed to turn my knee playing with my son once I got home... Dangerous places these warm dry living rooms!
9 miles up n down cutgate. High winds made it hard work. Worth it though. 1 hr 40
Hilly run out today, still a slog but that's the weekly climbing finished.
An easy run out tomo, only after 3.5miles.
