I'll look out for you Nick! I'll be in Dark Peak rather than Matlock colours this wkd. Dissapointed you're not doing LS though- need to 'nobble' you back from FRA's

any mid way stats or standings anywhere?
thanks Guy
Great event. Fellow Eryri runner, Sam Smith and I ran the elite, a late decision on both our parts. Yesterday was cold, strong wind, but clear and crisp, but warm enough for bogs to be unfrozen.. plenty of tussocky running and 1 long leg between checkpoints. We made 1 stupid error which cost us time. Day 2 was just horrible.. strong winds, driving rain and what felt cold temps.. Had a much stronger day 2, maybe because our nav had to be spot on so we were more competitive. One leg today was 2 hrs long, with some very different route choices on offer, we direct lined it pretty much (which I think most did).
Hardly ran in the fells all year so was surprised to feel at my best on both days after a good 4 hrs.. felt fine at the end too, but on finishing my knees and feet are sore.. cold helped..
Finished just off top 10, Zlod got that, never saw him all weekend though.. in fact we saw very few so maybe we had strange route choices...
TBH we were lucky with the weather with cold crisp, then horrible wet.. certainly preferable.
Not a day for the marshalls..
Overall, great area for it, loads of horrible terrain/trods to link up, short sharp hills, made the route choices quite varied..
Hmm, my first proper go at an MM! IainR I think me and my team buddy nipped in front of you and Sam after we missed our start on day 1 by 10 min...day 2 wasn't much better, we missed that by 20 min! I'll have to buy a watch! Day 1 OK conditions, if cold, apart from everyone wandering around the moor below Wild bore fell.....a little bit more time than expected spent there :o Day two was harsh, very wet, very, very cold, suffered alot, but very pleased to have finished. The cold bogs, puddles, stream certainly helped with my sore feet from the endless contouring...someone asked me if I had blisters...no, it was beyond that point. I did enjoy it in a sick and twisted kind of way, so will be back for more..and perhaps get out of my pit a bit quicker!
IainR: Thought it was! :) Yes, I have some whacking great ones too. I have decided, I really hate contouring, tussocks and bog...rules out most of my training ground on the mynd! Well done you and Sam, looks like you had a great run...this year was a practice for us?!
