It is a good day for going for some east to west segments with this wind on your back! :-)
Strava has one major flaw IMO - you cannot compare two of your own runs to see where you may have gained or lost time.
you can create a segment for an entire run and compare those, but the magic behind the web site is too precise and doesn't always see two runs as the same route.
Endomondo is better in that you can even compare two separate routes. for example, if you ran a flat 10k on route A and another on route B, you can see km vs km what your pacing was like.
am i alone in being irritated by this? i say irritated, because i was daft enough to pay premium membership and i'd quite like this feature.
i've mentioned it to Strava and if others did too, maybe they'd put it in.
Whats my GAP when its at home? Something, something Performance I'm guessing :)
GAP stands for grade adjusted pace, using some complicated maths calculation its possible to work out what the pace up a climb would equate to if you were running on the flat

Grade adjusted. Or, how fast you'd be running if this bit was flat.
Not sure it's much use...
Thanks for that. Looking back at my run, where both my pace and my grade adjusted pace both fell thats because I stopped to take a photo or two and where just my pace fell, that was because of a hill :). I guess GAP is trying to measure effort and the name of the game is to try and keep that flat. Could be useful then :)
looks as though I need to work on my downhill speed :o
Avg Pace 8:15/km GAP 8:21/km (slower!!!)

Sorry if I’m going a bit deep with this but I think the idea of the GAP came from the use of the WKO+ software that cyclist use to analyse training session with the use of power meters. When working with power the cyclist has a true measure of the effort they are putting in regardless of outside conditions, eg grade climbing, road surface, wind. With power it's easy to monitor training gain, quantify training session efforts and how hard they were, you can also track fitness and fatigue. With GAP runners can also do the same if you know your grade adjusted functional threshold pace (the pace you can sustain for an hour), but the issue with running off road is say you're running at your GAP functional threshold pace through mud, obviously you'll be working a lot harder than if you were on the road. So when you upload your workout in to the software it will show the session been actually easier than it was, which screws up the data you use to calculate fitness, fatigue etc. Also as far as I’m aware there are no gps devices that can give you an instant GAP display (though you might now if you created app to display this with the Suunto Ambit), so it’s difficult to go out and train to GAP with a normal GPS. Sorry to get all high tech.
