Calderdale Way Relay

First off a big thank you to everybody involed in geting this together and putting it on; great organisation and a great event.

Really enjoyed yesterday (apart from an overly long wait at Wainstalls...(I'll take a flask next time) - leg 5 went well no navigational errors and some good muddy descending. If I get this leg next year I'm going to do what everybody else seemed to be doing and run down to the brook on the grass the other side of the fence, thus avoiding the slippy steps.

Looking forward to next year already when I will be faster.

Thanks to Halifax Harriers for organising the relays, and especially the marshals who were stood out in the cold for hours. Thank God it wasn't run last Saturday.

There seemed to be a few residents who were annoyed about there villages being taken over for a couple of hours, two in particular in Cragg Vale, who decided to drive through the crowds quite aggressively. I suspect they are individuals who wouldn't be happy with anything, but we need to be as considerate as possible, so as to not give them cause.

Throughly enjoyed leg 5. I think the knee deep cow do-dah slowed most teams down. I've run this leg about 5 times and reccied it 2 weeks ago, and I still wasn't completely sure of the route. It's certainly a bit intricate.


And isn't it great to see 1440 runners in one event. Well worth the early start

Well done all the winners (but particularly the Rossy mixed team:D)

On leg one, the route went past a lone farmhouse with two chuffing great rotweilers (seriously, each the size of a good sized cow) going beserk as runners went by. Thankfully they were rerstricted by chains but, had one have escaped. it would have eaten the first luckless runner going past :)

Thanks too to Halifax Harriers and all the marshalls from your neighbours down t' road - it's still the highlight of the fellrunning year for me. Well done to Horwich for winning and to Rossy for taking the mixed crown with a young team.

this old bat moaned like 'ell during the hobble, she was going to give the organisers what for, she did't know she was ticking off one of the organisers, and he was encouraging her! (she forgot to ask who's race it was).
perhaps the tv reception is poor and she needs the entertainment, or she is actually eyeing everyone up! :eek:

She's actually a troll who lives under the bridge. Any time some one trip traps over it she pops out asserting that they have no right to be there! - There's a poem about her in the nearby Midgehole Club.

To be fair, she is on medication - when its not working well her behaviour deteriorates:(

Could think of some other medication that would help her, and others around Penistone, to have long term peace.:rolleyes:
