Echoing many others I'd like to thank Eyri for a fab day out in some great hills. I did the nav leg and loved it - tough but great fun. Loved that swamp with the spectating crowd at the finish. A great day out: huge thanks to the organisers and all the marshalls.

Are they any photos out yet? It looked like must have been some spectacular falls. Our anchor leg runner, CL, finished wearing full-face mud camouflage make-up.
What a brilliant day. Everything about the whole day was faultless. Ok, so I've of prefered a little less rain, but we cant ask for everything.
Hats off to Eyri for a brilliantly organised race. All the marshals deserve a big pat of the back too. Cant wait for 2014 now!
Great event. Epic nav leg - some classic mountain marathon style route choice legs. In other words what mountain navigation is all about. Let's hope future events live up to this standard!
I found a camera on leg 3 - probably dropped by someone just ahead of me as it was lying in the middle of the trod. Forgotten I had picked it up until most folk had left the assembly area. Left it with the organisers.
Yep, I slipped coming off the top of Moel Eilio, and dislocated my shoulder. Many thanks to all who stopped to help, and especially to the poor freezing marshal who helped me off the hill. Cracking stuff yesterday. I was (un)lucky enough to be on leg 2 and what a belter it was. There was some weather up there....Just a shame I'm so lame at descending.
Only gripe was that the start-finish area didn't really allow for much spectators. Always good when the final descent is in full view. But thats a minor point. Cheers to all.

Belting route for leg two after the first couple of miles which seemed to have a lot of roadwork in it, although I'd say for most that was a good 10-15 minutes harder than last year's leg two. Only part of that was down to the weather and underfoot conditions. I'm glad Zoe managed to get round it in good order with me for the mixed team but guys, how come our one and only girlie ended up doing the toughest leg?

Our club would favour a Saturday race. It means we can stay over in the location of the event and have a few celebratory drinks. The post-race pints after Kettlewell two years ago gave rise to few stories still told today.Quote:

I can only echo everyone's positive feedback, and sympathise with the constructive! Saturday race day was discussed for next year's event in early planning meetings, but there are issues as pointed out above, including the organizers' need to get everything set up on a Friday when many are working!
I ended up doing the nav leg as a last minute change and loved the challenge (if somewhat longer than expected), though the weather seemed to knock the spirit out of leg 2 runners a bit!
See you all 'up north' next year, when Howgill and Dallam hope to match the welcome, atmosphere and organization we experienced over this weekend.

Like others have said,a Saturday event is even better for team spirit,with being able to have a proper relaxed night out after the race and then staying over.It may be that the Moorlands lot are bigger party animals,but I suspect we are not alone...
I appreciate that it is probably harder for the organisers,although it does give an extra day to take things down after,but I know most of the runners would prefer Saturday.Hopefully the 6 Stage will remain on a different weekend too like this year.

You'd have thought that I could have at least got that right.
I always thought a Saturday event was better but having now helped in organising one I can see why Sunday could be better option. We spent some 3 hours marking course on Thursday, another 3 on Friday then from around 0800-1600hrs on Saturday............and that was just marking the course, not talking about the host of other time consuming aspects that others were involved in. So, unless you had an organising committee who were able to take the Friday off then it'd be a right job. Having said that Kettlewell 2011 was Saturday as was Bowland 2007 so it's clearly possible.....Quote:

Leg 2 can be run as a single race but in the opposite direction in the guise of the Moel Eilio race (usually in May I think) it's an absolute classic route far better that way round too!Quote:
