I think I just need a bigger hammer?
You will break it, mark my words...
Oh dear, I feel it may be broke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm happy cause I've just done 35 minutes on Turbo. (only 6 more days)
:thumbup:Off out with the dog now for a long walk.
40 minutes on rollers watching wind and rain batter down the valley from the M62.
Its wild out there today.
5 warm up
15mins @100 rpm
15mins @108 rpm
5 cooling down
Grand to have an indoor training facility sometimes.
(Only 1 turbo and 1 run to do) for a milestone in my training for next year.
Putting me to shame there Stagger, well done.
If I'd done as many hours on the bike as I've drunk pints the last four weeks, I'd be dangerous by now.
No turbo trainer or rollers for me!! Went out Wednesday about 35 miles around Bowland half in the dark.Ive just got back from a wet one about 20 miles
Its only water
All fun:confused::w00t:
Had my hybrid bike nicked from our shed last night. It did have a D lock on it, but only round the frame and wheel so obviously not good enough. They just took the shed apart as well so that was no good - it looked like it'd been opened with a tin opener:

What do you lot all do for bike security?
Sorry to here that Heathens.
Mine lives in the cellar.
Not rubbing salt in, but I did a 35 minute blast on the turbo this morning.
That now concludes the 31 days of training for December
10 runs
8 turbo's
8 rollers
3 races
2 gyms
Should be a good base coming in to a new year. Legs are shattered though. Most I've ever done.
Sorry to hear that heatens, shed looks a mess too :-(
I keep mine in the house...
Well, I have cycled... 2 hours hilly road Friday, about 2 hours MTB, crawling through unrideable mud, yesterday, and another couple of hilly road miles today. My training has officially started again, but God, I am unfit!!! :w00t:
off out with Kent Valley Road Club tomorrow. meeting behind Askew cycles at 9:30am tomorrow morning if anybody fancies it. slow to medium pace with a cafe stop
Went out on the MTB for a few hours :) Started off disastrous, as I had totally the wrong tyres on... turned back as no traction or grip whatsoever made the trail impossible to ride... Then decided to go to the centre's shop and splash out on a set of Nobby Nicks and started again. Had let my lads go to enjoy themselves, but found myself soon in the company of 5 lovely people and tagged along with them... Great ride in the end :)
That makes 4 rides in the last 4 days and already starting to feel a little fitter :)
Tomorrow is kit washing, kit tidying and bike cleaning/maintaining day... you go through one hell of a lot of brake pads riding in winter :-O
Well after a variety of forms of self indulgence 2012 has kicked off with a ride of penance and contemplation, 50 odd miles to the top of Rhigos Mountain and back. Penance as we slogged up the first climb of the new year and plenty of time for contemplation and a plea for absolution as we ground back down the valley into the teeth of a headwind from hell! There will be easier days I hope!!!
last 3 days, saturday 8 mile run over Inglebugger, Sunday, Nine standards fell race and today 43 mile club run with Kent Valley. probably ruined it with a few pints tonight watching the football but teatotal now until after the three peaks
Were you with one other rider Toff? I thought I saw you driving back from Afan trail centre!
two hours of spin last night plus short rides there and back:
1st hour @ 89% MHR
2nd hour @ 82% MHR
Been to the track this morning for a couple of hours, it HURT! Now feeling shattered, so unfit, but not too disappointed about my flying 500 time. I started off really well, but then died the second half of the last lap... Still, not too bad considering :)
Was the windiest/wettest journey home from work for months. Wind brought me to a complete standstill going uphill at one point. Felt like someone had a hosepipe on my face, feet took a couple of hours to warm up. It's only 6 miles! Happy Days:)
Well today I managed my slowest ever time cycling to work and my fastest ever time cycling back home.
I wonder why that was?!
Great efforts Steve and Nelly.
I thought I had just done good with 45mins (longest time ever) on the rollers.
Listening to the rain lash the windows I was thinking "no one would be daft enough to cycle in this".
I come up and look at this thread and find I'm a softee and there are nutcases on public roads.
Message to self:-
Must try harder to get out on bike.
I am so glad I have Newport Velodrome as my cop out possiblity, I do9ubt I'd have stayed on the bike for long, the gales and hail and sleet we are having here!
Stagger, Hann. Doubt i'd be out on the bike normally but using it for work means i have to see it through. None of them car drivers have made resolutions to give cyclists more room in 2012 though:angry:
You be safe Steve! xx
8 x rides over Christmas which tootled up to 448miles. So thats the winter base mileage in.
Wansfell Race and probably rollers every other day.
Not sure how many runs with the dog.
Not sure if riding your rollers New Years Day is normal but it is to me.
Total training time from 19th to last night = 36hrs
Total mince pies = 5
Total time spent into headwind= lots
Total cycling books read = 2 ( Belgian Hammer and Nicholas Roche book)
Total time spent faffing with mudguards = 0
Another two hours of spin - all in aerobic this time (av HR: 79% of max) - plus 30-min runs there and back.
Phew.
I doubt I will be out on the MTB tonight as planned... Gale force winds, too dangerous!
Rollers it will have to be then... what sort of sessions do you do on the rollers Daz? I am out of my depth on them, as to me they only really provide me with a warmup and cooldown tool for (track) racing? I am building winter base miles, started last Friday so anything equivalent to a 2-3 hour road or MTB ride would do me...
