Cheers ZootHornRollo
I should probably have said that they got a little numb in warmer wweather too but granted not as bad as this last few days.
Thanks again, I'll look at getting some overshoes. No ride for me today :(

Went out for a couple of hours with my coach friend... was supposed to be three, but he got cold, so we stopped early and warmed up with lots of coffee :)
No need for any words really...
Oooops!

Ohhhh, South Wales cross league for you this year Toff :)
And where were you yesterday? I had hoped to see you and Wheeze :(
Diseased I'm afraid so didn't make it to Longtown.
Perhaps start with the 3 peaks......
Still rubbish, this man flu can be difficult sometimes....So no big ride today, just went out for an hour or so to get the CX muddy:thumbup:
120km out into the glorious Kent downs with Paragon Saturday morning.
Oh, and did I mention that I've got a new bike ...? ;)
Whats the new bike then Zoot?
Did my commute this morning and rather chilly was the verdict. More up hill on the way home so body temp should be a little higher.
well, as you ask ...

Nice
Good cassette range 11-28 would have been perfect for me. 12-27 on mine although I like the 52 on the front for the long downs.
Aye, Its a fine piece of engineering and the price is a snip.
cheers stagger, I can put a grand of it through 'cycle-to-work' too, so that'll save me another £350 ...
Hadn't really though about the gear ratios - they confuse me a bit.
My current bike's a triple - though to be honest very rarely use the granny ring - so I'm hoping the 28 gives me enough options for the long, steep climbs.
So what would the implications be of putting a 52 on this set-up then? In terms of range / duplications of ratios?
Home again. Another 28k in the dark although not half as cold as this morning. Got in at 7.30pm
Just logged it in the training diary and its takes me to 350k for January and I'm over the moon at that.
Stagger is right, the jump from 34 to 53 would be too great, it won't work... You have pkenty of gears to get you up everything though, with a compact chainset and a climbing block of 11/28 on the back. I am a girly and ride a standard chainset. I did put an 11/28 on the back though, for serious climbing, just to give me those extra few gears... :)
Lovely bike :)
another sick note here
no rides this weekend - no riding til i get rid of this bloomin' cough - pah!
And I haven't been on my bike since Friday :(
Wasn't feeling well enough Sunday and yesterday and to be fair, today I am only just better and on my way to London in a minute...
Hopefully I can get a couple of hours in around Brixton tomorrow morning before work, but God knows what the riding is like there! Apparently, if I head South towards the M25, it isn't too bad...
Werll, I followed the South Ci8rcular for about 35 minutes, found Richmond Park... rode around t for a couple of hours, rode back... three hours of good riding in the bag, avg speed about 30 kms/hr, including stopping at traffic lights etc etc
Decided to use a computer for a change, normally don't really, just so I could keep track of speed...
Did a 45 minute commute each way yesterday as well, on the foldy...
Now off to see an artist, so todays commute will be a couple of hours in total... Taking the computer, to see how fast I go on the foldup as well :)
Bliddy freezing though, but the sun's out :)
I have no idea where I am going... and I don't have that much time... so I rather not get lost, as I am working at this fair as well as trying to get some training in!
This morning found me riding up som hills, from Brixton to Peckham and Peckham Rye... then back dwon via Camberwell to South Ken... all very interesting LOL Main problem seems to be traffic not realising a foldup bike can travel at 30 kms/hr through London traffic... Cold and sunny again, 1 hour on the bike this morning, another 40 odd on my way home tonight after 9 pm will have to do for today!
Home again and another 56k in the bank, after commuting today.
I might even get a little fitter this season with all the pedaling.
Quads know they have had a work out.
Did the Jacob's ladder loop today lovely crisp winters day, full of ice which made it "interesting" missed out Rushup and Mam Tor bit came down Chapel Gate which was sheet ice good day though
60m on bike this week since monday, glad of the sealskinz hat and socks i've purchased and the skins thermals i got for xmas. 20m running, more to come at weekend, didn't run at all last weekend:-(
Good going Stagger:thumbup:
Only 56m on bike and no running yet, will do a hill session tomorrow and another 15 on bike saturday to try and keep up with Steve-monster-merry-legs.
Steve, I only use sealskin socks and they are a god send. The hat makes me over heat, buff is plenty for me.
Well done you. YOUR BG is comming nearer.
Oh dear :(
Set the alarm for 6.45 to get out on the bike for a couple of hours before work, but when I opened the curtains it looked cold and grim out, I also felt very tired after three very long days at the art fair, so went back to bed :w00t:
Now I am early for cycling in, so maybe I should take a scenic detour and make my commute a little longer, to make up for it...
hour's spin on Wed eve
two hours' last night
not bad considering I was feeling sick as a pike on Mon / Tue.
Still intending to go out on 65-mile Saturday club ride in the morning: forecast for Kent is -3....
Could instead do the shorter, perhaps faster, 35-mile run instead, mmm ...
Zoot, what time does your club run start? I am tempted to go out with you guys for a bit tomorrow morning but... I have to be in South Ken by 11 am...
Oh and I managed to deal with my guilt via an invigorating extended commute doing my friend a favour by picking something up for her at Oxford Circus... It was rather satisfying to see the speed control signs through Oxford Street roadworks flash up saying I was doing 19 mph and later on 21 mph and then tell me off as the speed limit was 20 mph :) 20 ins wheels rock :)
well now that would be great - but your best option would be the shorter club run that leaves Herne Hill Velodrome at 09.00-09.15. That's the 35-miler and there'll be at least four groups going out tomorrow even with the weather.
It would be just a case of finding your way back because it still goes out into the country and you would have to break off early by the sound of things.
Am considering it myself but always try to do the longer ride which starts from Crystal Palace at 08.30 ....
Such a pity the colleague is away tomorrow, so I actually HAVE to be at the fair by 11... It would be good to have a guide out of town, for next time... Mind, if I went for the 8.30 from Crystal Palace and cut it short, that could work? Probably best not to risk things though and head for Richmond Park again...
-6 this morning on way to work, hands like a penguins flippers!
Warmed up today in London... planned a couple of hours tomorrow, setting off at 7.45, so no Dulwich Paragons involved... then commute, so it best not be too cold!
Had to solve a puncture on my foldy tonight as well... grrrrr, ended up walking aout 3 miles in heels, as the bus wouldnt take me with the bike, not even folded up :(
Hann, why would a bus not take you with your bike folded. What an arse, I'm sure if it was covered in, say, a bin-bag you'd have got it on.I've got another Ironman coming up, so I've been getting a few 3 hour rides for the last couple of months. With the weather & the fact that my mate had bought a new bike, yesterdays ride was a bit of a step up in terms of time in the saddle.Balaclava, headband, gloves(*2), tops(*3), tights(*2), cycle shorts, socks(*2), shoes, covers & off we went. Drinks had turned to sorbets within 90mins as the temperature varied between -3.2deg & +4.5deg. Thoroughly enjoyed the ride, we went over the Clwydian Range & Denbigh Moor past Llyn Brenig to Cerrigydrudion, back up the Nant-y-Garth & home. Could see Snowdonia looking white & vicious, Cader Idris, The Llantysilio Hills & The Berwyns. 78 proper winter miles on a proper winter bike. BOOM!! It wasn't fast & there was definitely no run off the back of it, I was battered when I got home. Will have to caw canny if I get out for a run this weekend.
