Same again for me tonight, turbo 2X20 mins @350W... hopefully get out on "real" bike at weekend..that said Graeme Obree said his turbo would be the first thing he'd save in a fire..unfortunately true, there's no hiding on it.

Just back from a week cycling in the South of Spain... was the coldest spell they'd had in 50 years, apparently, but it slowly warmed up in the course of the week and it was sunny :)
LOTS of climbing... as it either went up or down... lovely roads though but I really need to do something about my fitness, I was abysmal!
Very easy Zone 1-2 two hour spin after tough run yesterday 52.55km/749m
So took out my brand new shiny and not inexpensive BMC for first ride Saturday ... and crashed!
Attachment 5744
105km at 28kph
That must smart :w00t:
But to be fair, my first thought was: Oh, I DO hope his lovely new bike is ok!!!
How is the new velodrome? Would love to try it out, but doubt I will have a chance before the olympics...
Went for a little ride over the Gospell Pass yesterday, by means of recovery from Spain... well, actually, it was more to try out my legs and bike were up to it for later this week... Was hard work and so very cold, even though it was sunny (but windy). I find riding in these cold tempreatures really takes it out of me. Legs hurt, I am sluggish... I just hope it is the cold and not me being totally useless :(
Two rest days now, unless I decide on some powerwork on the turbo. But I don't think that is the right thing to do at this time of the year...
You hoping to edge Ms Pendleton out of the team then Han!?
Well it's the only track cycling event I've been to, so nothing to compare it with, but it was fantastic: we had great seats right down at the rail and near to the finish line; atmosphere was really crackling; and the place looks pretty good.
They absolutley fleece you for drinks and food but that's no surprise is it?
Looks like they might charge people to watch the road cycling at Box Hill now too.
PS Nikalas - I didn't say thanks for the FTP test details. I'll print that off and give it a whirl.
One of the spin instructors reckons the WattBike is difficult to get set up right - positionwise.
Nikalas, have you tested/reviewed any power meters? I am not seriously thinking about investing in one mind, as I think they are too expensive and aren't necessarily useful training tools for road racing, but been having discussions with tester friends about them... I like the idea of the Look/Garmin vector pedal one, but they seem to have trouble actually producing it?
Yep, have tested most of the current systems and all have their pros and cons... The crank based systems (SRM and Quarq) are the industry standards but are the most expensive and obviously swapping them between bikes is not really realistic. Hub based Powertap is probably the cheapest and easy to swap from bike to bike but do you train on a race wheel or race on a training wheel? Personally, if I was going to spend cash I'd wait for the Garmin Vector.. it's annoying that they've bumped it back... again but it's going to offer the greatest flexibility. Polar are going to get their pedals out first but the Ant+ compatibility of the Garmin and the fact they'll talk to Garmin bike computers makes the wait worthwhile.
60 mins just spinning the legs easy on the turbo @220W
Hard two hours' spinning last night, intervals all the way.
Felt a bit emotional afterwards.
No cycling for me yesterday, or today for that matter... no time :(
Nudged it up to 2X20 mins @360W tonight.... if I can hit the magic 400W mark and be down to 80kg for Oulton Park duathlon I'll be a happy camper.
good work - 2x20s are just nasty, dunno how you can do them on a regular basis ...
going to join the DP evening chaingang for the first time tonight. Bit nervous actually cos a) I'm not going to get chance to change tyres and I'd rather not crash my new bike again, and b) it's a strong racing club, reckon it'll be no prisoners ...
Commute 18 mile. Bit of a gusty wind direction made it a lot tougher.:p
Maybe in for a fast time on way home.
Easy Zone 1-2 27.42km/201m in 52:54 mins and no need for overshoes... one degree more on the thermometer and my knees would have got an airing.
It was BRILL, almost all the way on the 52 front ring, flying up the hills and keeping at traffic speed in the 30 zones.
Now if I was to train a bit harder, lose a lot of weight and pust myself to the max, I could probably ride home it that time more often.
God took this morning and gave me some back this afternoon.
Ahhhhh the pleasures of cycling.
PS 18 mile with 1600 ft or 29k & 500m
Well done Stagger, it was bloody warm coming home from work tonight, first time in shorts this year!
My youngest was 10 yesterday which means I've been commuting for at least that long. The wife tells me it may have been as long as12 or 13 years. It's not far, only about an 8 mile round trip, but I like to think it's character building just wheeling my bike out of the garage some days.
Nikalas, have you seen this report about Zofingen?
http://www.recipher.co.uk/powerman-zofingen-2010
Should be fun.
My lad is 12 next month so i've been riding my bike to work or running for 12 years, except when i was on the night shift, 8m round trip. Now work days and a 12m round trip with more if i can be bothered. Character building indeed and a great way of getting some training in. Had a three month temp job driving all day and struggled to do any training, hated it. Respect to them folk who work all day, have to travel by car or public transport and still manage to train.
Only had time for a run today, so didn't get out on the bike but hoping to tomorrowfor a steady ride out in the peaks. Was such a fab, warm day too. Hope it's the same in the morning
Cheers... found it today. Not saying what I'm expecting of the race yet but I'm blogging here http://www.220triathlon.com/blog/nik-cook/back-baseics
Great blog Nik. I'm attempting to do a few tri's this year & am trying to get more miles in on the bike
Looking forward to it. Only done Matlock last year, so been looking out for a few more sprint tri's not too far away. Any you'd recommend?
