Buxton and New Mills are good low key events

Wet and wild hill fest 50km/1000m.... headwind coming up the final ramp from Derbyshire Bridge to Cat and Fiddle was unbelievable... definitely a character building ride.
Just had a little work out round by timed route. 25k 400m climb.
65 mins this morning with 10k of steady climb into a brisk head wind.
Nice morning though, feeling more spring like.
Just done another 30mins on rollers @100-104rpm. Legs a little tender from this morning so this was just a recovery spin.
Gunner have a couple of pints now.
Well, I have been riding :)
Nice just under 3 hours with a mate on Friday... quite hard because of the pace and a whopping great big climb in it halfway. Legs hurt after that!
Yesterday had me commuting around London on my foldy by means of recovery as I had a long working day...
Today I went over the Gospell Pass from Llanthony, touched on Hay, Felindre, Talgarth, Llangorse, Bwlch, Llangynidr, Llangynidr Mountain from Llangynidr, Crickhowel, over the top to Llanbedr, Fforest Coalpit, Llanvihangel, HOME! That was just over 4 hours, just under 100 kms and God only knows how much climbing... one hell of a lot! But I was still able to sprint for the village sign and going at a steady 30 km/hr up my valley after all that, so well pleased!
I also managed the best climb of Gospell Pass ever... I was almost able to dance up it :) Think my slow, steep Spanish miles are starting to pay off :) Now I just need to build some more power and a little more endurance and I am ready to tackle the Fred Whitton in May :)
20km each way commute on Friday
16km today from great longstone to bakewell and back. First go for Ruben in the trailer and he loved it:-) :-)
Oh CUTE! How old is Ruben? :)
116km solo yesterday at 28kph.
45 sweatty hard minutes on the turbo... think I am back in training :w00t:
Just had a long chat with my coach as well, getting a 4 week plan to get me racing fit whoop!
He looks like he's done some serious mileage Paul:thumbup:
Another turbo session bites the dust :)
Where is Daz? Not seen him on here for a while?
Hmmm, dunno, perhaps he is training very hard for something, mind you that could just be a rumour....
Avatar has gone as well when I looked last week, looks serious!
Meanwhile, gorgeous 43 miles or so on Sunday over Gelligaer common, a stunning road, so good we just had to do it twice, the only excuse for out and back around here, well nearly.. Spin tonight and perhaps a ride up a hill tomorrow morning, work permitting!
First for a while!! 20 mile on roads with our lass!! :) Drizzled on us!
Commute 25k.
Cracking morning, getting light, warm, wind free and pleasent.
Just been out on the MTB over Haterall Ridge :)
STUNNING ride, nice recovery after two hard turbo days in a row and lovely warm sunny weather :)
No sun Han although no wind either. A good 25k ride home for me. Think it must be the quickest each way of the year so far.
Starting to feel a bit better on the bike, pushing more time in the big ring, and working better out of the saddle.
Also recovery time is vastly improving.
Overall the fitness is coming on a treat, lose a couple more pounds and more time on the bike is all good.
Can the real stagger ride forward please???
Yep its great and we are almost at 12 hours of daylight.
Just logged my milage and its on the up.
Dec = 283k
Jan = 347k
Feb = 392k
Is there a running thread around here???
Skived again for a good hour... on the old crosser this time, on the road to get to Black Hill... 6x hill reps on the way, attacking the climbs hard... into the red... Then I played on a muddy and rocky bridleway... I even managed to not go @rse over tit in the ford, unlike last time... Mind, a better choice of line AND skinny tyres helped me here I think. That and the fact that I didn't have spectators LOL
Great little play and useful training me thinks :)
I do now have a third bike that needs cleaning though
I seem to have entered Mountain Mayhem 24 hour solo and Bristol Bikefest 12 hour mixed pairs :w00t: and I thought I was a roady, but so far all events and races I have entered are MTB ones LOL
Managed a 40 km road cycle, legs a little stiff today!!
55km in 90 mins with pro-triathlete Melissa Rollison in Abu Dhabi... it was her "easy" day before race "leg loosener".
See you at Mountain Mayhem... I'm "slacking" in a team... have you seen HellRider? 8 Hours alternating trail run and mountain bike.. I'm signed up solo for that one www.hellrider.co.uk
Comute 25k this morning, but had a puncture. Tried to put one of the spare tubes in (Brand new out of the box) and it was wrong size. Had to resort to 2nd spare tube. Gutted
Have laughed it off now, it was my own fault anyway for riding through a patch of grit and crap where CRASH happend last week.
Onwards and upwards.
Easy 25k 400m climb home.
Just watching the world go by.
Going to have a fitting for the good bike this evening. Been gonner do it for months now but the Mrs set it up as my Birthday pressie.
See how it goes.
Nice couple of hours with coach Russ this afternoon... Starting to feel stronger :)
Easy hour and 15 minutes spinning on the road to ease out the legs for tomorrows MTB race :) First MTB race ever, so feeling slightly apprehensive... and pondering tyre choices...
All the best Han
Grip every time at this time of the year.
Trust me.
First MTB xc race conquered... horizontal sleet at the start didn't help. Don't think I have ever felt so cold in my life, as we didn't start until 45 minutes after the advertised start time. I had timed my warmup lap so that there were just 5 minutes between it and the start, so as to not get cold, but no such luck, as we stood shivering in a field on top of a hill, being hailed and sleeted on in gale force winds :w00t:
Mind, I did enjoy it, even though most of the course was covered in ankle deep mud... I also managed to win my race. Mind, there was only one other woman in it LOL... and was 3rd behind two elite girls. Felt very muppety and clumsy, but upwards and onwards, especially as I have won free entry into the next two races in the series :)
Got a lot of kudos for my tyres :) I was riding my birthday present and boy was I a happy Hann :) They were BRILLIANT! No slippage at all, great traction and boy it was muddy!
Well Done Hann. Glad you enjoyed it. Which tyres did you run in the end??
By it were cold this morning riding to work. Nice clear morning, with a feel of mid winter.
Legs are tender in different muscles as I had a bike fitting session last Friday. Looking for positive results in the long term.
