Another fantastic photo Wharfeego!! I wish I'd had your skills when photographing the Nidderdale curlews when doing my artists residency. As a shameless plug...my prints (and the work of the other two artists) go on display at Number 6 Studio Gallery in Pateley Bridge next Tuesday (12th - 29th July).
Back to printing my curlew now (ink on the keyboard).
I got buzzed by a curlew t'other day too. They sound so sad it breaks your heart.

3 butterflies having a bit of a scrap at Back Tor trig - spotted them as I was waiting for the Glossopdale guys to get to this point of their 15 trigs outing. sadly didn't have the long lens on and no time to swap before they'd flown off
think we saw a Hen Harrier today while out bagging the DP calendar box...we were walking off Round Hill heading south, to pick up the track town to Howden. bird was flying east of us towards Fairbanks. characteristics are right, low effortless flight over moorland, brown! but too far away to get a decent look
anyone else seen one in the area?
I see red kites regularly over Eccup, but lots of residents are reporting seeing them over Headingley. Only a matter of time, I think, before they reach Woodhouse Moor - a new attraction/distraction for the HPTTrialists.
Already been spotted on Woodhouse Moor Alexandra.... http://www.birdforum.net/archive/ind...1534-p-56.html - see entry at Monday 21st March 2011, 12:57.

Three red squirrels, some pigs and a deaf collie
Not exactly wildlife, but saw a wood carving of two fighting hares in a garden today. Just been googling wood carvings and came across this talented bloke. Some beautiful work and his fighting hares were done with a chainsaw!
