If the wife lets me play out I'll be there....been a couple o' years since I took part in the race.
bump!
Quiet thread this year - must have been noisy last year because of the championships.
Has anyone been out on Black Hill this week? I guess it must be fairly dry up top right now?
Helvellyn for me. I know crowden is a fell champs race but a proper fell race as the pull for me:eek:
Definitely time I broke my Lake District race duck, but I can't miss Crowden, its a signature race for me (was my first two years ago and it was horrible).
Must get a Lake District race sorted in the next couple of weeks.
I'll miss it also:( I really like this race.
Did it a few years ago when it was cold wet and very windy from the south. Absolutley flew to the top and felt great and then we turned round for the 'Down hill' bit. Very boggy return in to a strong headwind and hill fog was soul destroying.
Brill race but I will be returning to the land of big hills for some long mountain day before the dreaded midges return.
Dry-ish on the tops. All the peak at the summit of BH is nice & soft and good running. As long as the rain holds off it'll be OK....:D Mind you the descent down to Crowden promises to be rocky, that final gully down the finish is a bit, errm, *interesting*....
Am in two minds about the race - lots on this weekend (social-wise, not race-wise ) so need to plan carefully....
Sounds good, thanks for the report. Someone described the carnage after the descent last year as "an audition for a Tarrantino flick", a perfect summary!
Aye, there's "descending" and then there's "DESCENDING" like along this wee stretch. My least favourite part of the whole race - was passed by a few runners last time I ran it and pipped to the post! :(
I say put some proper fell races in the fell grand prix, crowdens pants.:p
