Well I for one am loving Every Minute of it. Love the whole thing, ridders, support, spectators ( except the kn** with the tacks). I think Team Sky are superb as they are as far as I can see the only real TEAM in the tour. You won't see Bradley isolated like some of the the other Team Leaders. Nor will you see him ignored by a fellow team mate when he is punctured ;-) or in trouble. No one is attacking so who can blame Sky for preserving energy for when it's needed over the next 3 days.
Bradley is a man totally in control and so strong at the moment due to some amazing team work. I love the yellow jersey on him and long may it continue ........ All the way to Paris :-)
Oh btw I'm not an expert ( I'm still after my goal of getting all the way up Mam Nick without stopping) I'm just a massive cycling fan :-)
Jimmy Carr is the surprise leader of the Tour de France after yesterday's sabotaged stage.
He managed to avoid all the tacks.
agree pretty much with all of that. Think it is also due to the slightly disappointing route choice this year with only two mountain finishes and a lot of TT miles. Though you could argue that is more representative of 'normal cycling'. Maybe it's the burnish of history but there seemed to be something a bit more ..... momentous about Armstrong, even when he was totally dominating.
I'd be really delighted to see Sky & BW take the GC - it would be amazing for UK cycling and the profile of the sport here generally - but I would also hope for a more exciting Tour next year.
Yesterday's stage was as dull as dishwater but I don't blame sky for not chasing the break down. However, I do feel a little sorry for Cav having to play domestique but I suppose aiming for a bunch sprint is not a good plan when you have the yellow jersey. Could well end in a bunch pile-up with Wiggo at the bottom!
If Nibali or Evans hold any asperations of toppling the Sky duo then they have to make their move in the next 2 days.
Let hope for some fireworks from those two to liven things up. (But hopefully not too much! Enough to take the jersey and then Wiggo to take it back in the TT would be quite entertaining though!)
Hope Sky are serious about lining up the Champs Elysee for Cav - looks like that may be his only other chance of a stage win this year.
It being the 100th tour next year I think it will be full of classic climbs, could be interesting who leads team Sky, but not sure it will matter if Bertie and Schleck are back. By the way, just great to see Wiggo in Yellow, even if it is a bit boring to watch.
Froome will lead Sky next year. It's the centenary tour and it's going to be mountainous as you like. Wiggo might start out leading but he'll crack and it'll be an epic Contador V Froome battle. I can't bleeding wait for that!!
OK so far
BG rode a great prologue
Cav won a stage
BG won the TT taking time out of his nearest rival
BG then takes further time out of his nearest rival who is now over 2 minutes behind. with the help of Froome but that is what team mates are there for. Froome even becomes No 2 in the race.
Then, there has been very little attacking from the rivals and what little there has been has been dealt with.
Over 2 minutes ahead why is BG being criticised? surely the onus is on Cadel and crew to attack. the onus is not on BG to liven things up (even though he did try and give a team mate a lead out. how many times have you seen the yellow jersey do that). Sky have now managed to hit the Pyranees relatively fresh but so has everybody else so can we expect all hell to break loose tomorrow on a very very tough stage. but again the onus is not on BG to attack unless he wants act stupidly.
we are so close to getting our first Bristish winner of the tour and I am sure all is not over yet and it is not a dead cert yet he will be in yellow in Paris so for me this is a very exciting tour and we should all be getting behind him. whether Froome should be team leader is not important. other yellow jersey holders have had Lieutenants capable of of doing more but they have a job to do and there is no saying that once they have put a stage winning effort in that they can repeat it next day and quite often the reverse. that is why it is hard to read into what will happen tomorrow because any gains tomorrow could be countered by losses the following day if they overdo it.
I for one will be glued to the progress tomorrow as I believe it may be a key day in this years tour.
Come on Wiggo, bring that jersey home!!!!
