Mine split a bit a couple of weeks ago. Right foot above little toe. Probably done 150 - 200 or so miles by then
Since then I've done the 40 mile Four Inns and another 16 mile on Kinder today. Not got any worse, reckon they're good for another 100 mile at least. Grip is still fantastic
I've had my eye on the Mk1s and Mk2s on Ebay or a while and wasn't sure of the quality but the comments on here seem pretty positive as an 8 in Walshs and Montrails I'll oder 8s and 8.5s and post my thoughts.
BUT... I originally got interested thinking they had a more cushioned sole than my Walshs and Highlanders (they look thicker?) but reading the latter comments i'm not so sure? I was after something that was a bit more comfortable/supportive on longer mixed runs than my Walshs, should I look elsewhere?
They are more comfortable than Walshs(to me at least), but not Highlanders(Montrail?)
reading back through, several people mention Kanadias. Are they a good easy fell/mixed ground shoe? I used to love the MK1 Swoops but couldn't get o with MK2s and haven't been near a pair of Adidas aver since.
My finger is hovering over the 'buy now' button an a pair of MM Cheviots, but maybe I should go for the Kanadias?
I've not used the Kanadias, decent shoes by all accounts.
I've done a few 30+ milers in Inov8 315s, great shoe but I suspect usually more expensive than the Kanadias. On the Adidas front, I've heard the TR4s are quite good.

More Mile Cheviot Mk2: Much grippier on the really greasy muddy stuff, so great for this. Less cushioning, so feel harsher over longer distance, especially on harder trails. Not sure about durability as it's my first pair, but early signs not so good, holes in uppers of both shoes after 100 miles. (Take size 7.5)
Horses for courses, but I think Kanadia is a safer choice especially if you're after an all-rounder. Usually have them in Sportsdirect (high street chav shop) if you want to eyeball them / try them on.

very helpful to get a direct comparison, so size wise the Kanadias are a it smaller? I've got 8's in Walshs and Montrails and Asics but my normal street shoes are 7/7.5
Richsund's comparison of the two is pretty much how I'd size them up to: Cheviots if grip is your priority, Kanadias for (slightly) more comfort on harder surfaces - and perhaps durability, though the earlier models weren't so good.Quote:

it's more cushioning than grip i'm after as I've always got the walshs and highlanders for the sticky stuff.
