A little reminder .... Rhayader Mountain Trail next Saturday 18th. A field of good runners entered for the 43 mile Montrail event, anyone running it is elligible for prizes. But anyone else can enter and jog/walk it if you want to - plenty of food stops etc.
Also a challenging 29 mile course and a 18 miler for those who only do short runs .
If anyone else is injured with nothing to do at the weekend and fancies helping out in the wilds of mid Wales, we can soon find you a job for the day :).
I'm always amazed at the low cost of LDWA events and they provide a meal . They are often the few places where one can find an organised Ultra , its just nice to run with others at times, especially if there's hours of running involved.
Doing White Cliffs 50 in Kent in September as qualifying for next year's Yoredale 100. £12 with food and drinks thrown in and I think, a cooked breakfast. Beats £15-20 for many road half-marathons:)
I totally agree Derby Tup, it be interesting to see how much the Leeds abbey Dash organiser think they can fleece out of people this year. If it's too expensive i don't enter, i would encourage others to do the same. I know they have policing etc and Road closures but some of these are prohibitively expensive.
The Rombalds stride in feb is £8 , thats snacks en route, tea , coffee, meal at the end. Its a great day out too. I'll definately be there.
Have you been in The Derby Tup in Chesterfield? Great pub
A couple of friends were doing the 'Race the Train', which they have done every year and she has won previously. It is now £18 entry (without a train ride back  ), they felt this was seriously taking the ****.
Helping me out instead.
We include breakfast (toast, cereal) 5 checkpoints with food and drink, good meal at finish. Plus Montrail donate the running prizes and spot prizes for £6.50 pre-entry fee.
And you can run 43 miles...... at least a decent day out :D.
sounds great molehill, wish i lived a bit nearer. keep up the good work fella.
You all missed a very interesting day out .
A few muddy patches slowed most of them down ;)
They sure did miss a great day out thanks Mid Wales LDWA for introducing me to the Cambrian hills i certainly have a score to settle with those little B*****s;).
Give my thanks to all involved in the organisation and cheerful manning of the well provisioned checkpoints in what can be best described as DAMP conditions (the cup of tea at checkpoint 5 was pure nectar).
See you next year?:D
