Hares, Ringed Plover and Little Ringed Plover, plus a LBJ (Little Brown Job) of a bird that I still can't recognise despite buying a book.
Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
Wasn't a siskin, was it? :p Only saying that 'cos I heard a prog on R4 about birds and (apparently) it's got one of the ugliest bird songs around. They tend to live in the tops of trees, especially evergreens.
Come to think of it, there's quite a bit of yellow in their plumage so maybe it wasn't then.... :(
Watch the skies! :D

Now, where did I put my pipe & slippers.....?
Actually, I dip in occasionally. Sometimes you can find some real nuggets of documentaries or comedies or whatever. Difficult in the car - aside from my own music I struggle with the other stations; too much pandering to the sms-sending club-going fraternity with roots as deep as the last issue of "hello".....
Tirade over! How's the leg Matt?

Cheers, but I'm guessing it wasn't. It made sort of a "peep" which wasn't overly objectionable and wasn't up a tree! Next guess please. I'm going to get my other book out and suss this out.

Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
Saw 3 hares the other day on mtb ride behind house. Tadpoles in the garden pond are growing well, feeding them on dogfood, they love it. Sloworms taken up their summer residence in the garden underneath the corrugated and slates we put down for them (to warm up under). Think the first Swift (baby) left the nestbox under the house eaves this morning. Greenfinches & bullfinches are starting on the geranium (wild) seed heads that Missus plants for them. Can do a lot in a very small garden.
Completely forgotten to look for the glow-worms this year, damn I love seeing them on them when out and about at night:(.
