Or stuff it into a wall like I saw someone do just after the last checkpoint last year
I was too knackered to run after the idiot I saw do it; I pulled it out and took it to a litter bin at the finish for him.

Good luck all forum Hobblers tomorrow. Hope the weather's nice. :)
I reckon road shoes aren't a bad choice. Worst bit would be probably on PW coming down from Stoodley Pike ;)
Think I'll be in Roclite 285 or more likely 315
Aha. Pedantry being next to Podiatry... or at least fairly close anyway... I'm disagreeing with your sentiment that road shoes are not good for the Hobble, but accepting that your particular trail shoes sound even better.
So: yes I agree that I am disagreeing with you whilst ultimately agreeing with your shoe selection.
Hope that's cleared up now.
thanks boys. top class biff btw :)
after all that, i will prob wear my reasonably cushioned trail shoes, but as much because I have a knee issue, and they seem to cause it less aggro, and I'm less likely to wrench it by slipping. had i been 100%, then i would have gambolled on road shoes, only given that its been so dry.
But I never said or implied road shoes were bad for the hobble, just that i was wearing cushioned trail shoes and the reason why I chose them. So now you are disagreeing with something I never even said - you are making me sound like CL, why are you doing this to me?
Me and little biara will be at Long Causeway tomorrow. Say hello. :)
Good luck to all of you tomorrow. Think you're all mad......
I'll be assisting with the marshalling at Mankinholes YHA where there will apparrently be cakes so i expect everyone to at least leave with a smile if they don't arrive with one ;). I'll try to correctly identify antisocial this time instead of going round accusing people of being unfriendly :p i don't know who's going and who isn't but i'll keep my eyes open for forumites and be sure to issue patronising encouragement :D.
[QUOTE=biara;315203]I don't know where that is but will say hi.Quote:

The descent from Withins ruins to the reservoirs could be a contender for the muddiest section (this bit).
Have a good one everybody. Conditions should be good. I'll be there early for the start then I'll see you possibly at one or two checkpoints until my tour of duty back at base for the rush.
Good luck all you Wuthering Hobblers, love this race, run, walk, feed, hallucinate, wobble:D
Hobble Eve!
Really looking forward to tomorrow now :)
It'll be good to see some familiar faces at the checkpoints!
Have a good 'un all...
Really ought to be there, but can't make the time ...shall try and get a few Peak District miles in myself as the opportunity arises...
Looks like brett's laid on a decent day as usual :)
On second mug of tea and bagels are in the toaster
Well done DT you had a good one today, you were looking good when I saw you , and at the finish. ;)
Fantastic run Derby Tup n knocking 20mins off your previous best.
At this rate I may put you in my fantasy team:)
Thanks for cheering us on, I was running with Merrylegs and Emmilou. Just had the best day and most tiring, I feel totally knackered now. Didn't expect to do a sub 6 hours but we did - Daz, oh ye of little faith!!
Big thanks to Emmilou, Steve and Colin for all your encouragement, I would have been a lot slower had I not had you three to chase. Thanks Brett for all your hard work in putting the event on.
Aye, nice to see the Crumblies and new wuffler:cool:
Top run DT, you were strong all the way round, emmi ran like a tireless machine, good to see her bounce back from last week's blip.
Mrs Stagger and my old boss Colin both put in solid efforts, thanks folks for dragging me round, didn't think i'd be able to stay with you when you caught me at Widdop, couldn't go with DT and his mate when they passed me near the start. Grand day out, thanks Brett and helpers and that ugly old woman in the car park:eek::D
Like the sig DT, can't believe i resisted the Hot Dogs, the stew at the end could not be denied though:rolleyes:
emmilou had a storming run
merry looked in good shape for a fella who hasn't got time to tain ;)
Nice one to Brett for organising the event, these things must be a labour of love. Lovely to see emmilou again who i haven't seen since XOTF and nice to see Merry and DJ, haven't met tussockface yet but i'm sure we'll bump into one another some day.
We had a bit of a water crisis at the Mankinholes YHA checkpoint, half an hour in it was almost gone and we had no refill so i had to go scrounging. I wandered into the YHA where i was greeted by a well spoken college student whom it turns out was with the Cambridge College Brass Band, i explained our urgency and we made our way round to the kitchen where we were met by a spotty american girl. "Do you work here?", i asked, "do i look like i work here?" she replied. I didn't answer but let's just say it as a round peg round hole situation. After interrupting the brass band's washing up twice with a pop bottle i secured access to an outside tap accross the road for which i am grateful to the owner, by the time the sweepers passed we had gone through just short of 100 litres .
The donuts proved very popular, however the same cannot be said for the biccies most of which were reloaded into my Volvo for the return journey. If anybody is stuck for biscuits at the moment, Brett is currently overstocked :D.
