Although I may go shopping in Lakeland instead...
Cheers mud, gonna do a three peaks instead..
Thanks anyway Amex
Closer to the time - will someone remind me to pack my passport.
(I get I.D'd everywhere)
Possibly DJ, or you could stop slinging rocks at people??? :D
Is it just me or is it hard to work out who's running, curry and LOFT, walking or just running and not staying for the night?
Amex seems totally in control :D
Me too, but I like being worried, it challenges me :D
Dont mean to pee on the party here, but has anyone checked that the loft is open late on a Tuesday night.
Me and the missus are having a walk, is anyone else walking?
No route planned as of yet though.
See you all there folks
Cheers
Jamie
Great Stuff, Slam dunk the funk then
Any last minute roosting recommendations? I was going to stay at the YHA again but the thought of making some shapes to the Loft's Tuesday nite Funky House Classics is too tempting!
If you're after somewhere cheap what about
http://www.vividevents.co.uk/Denton%20House.htm
downside is Mr Pudge is staying there;)
Nice to see I'm not the only one who hasn't sorted any accommodation out yet. Stupid YHA curfew, they have a numberpad thing on the door now but still insisted I got back at 11:30 when I last stayed in the summer :(
Last year whatever theme music night it was didn't happen, it was usual student night fare with a few Christmas songs in, would expect much the same this year. But if not, since I'm not down with what the cool kids are listening to any more, maybe Al can tell us what to expect from Funky House Classics?
I'm driving up Monday morning, expect to get to Keswick area around 10am if any wants a run/walk. If not maybe I can tempt people with a few beers in the evening?
I ended up sprinting through the streets of Keswick (yeah, right) and getting to the YHA at about the time you were lacing your dancing shoes up last year Steve
Must remember not to get too drunk this time either as I have all my Christmas shopping to do on Christmas eve ;):p
Well according to wikipedia-
Funky house is a loose definition for a commercially orientated, disco influenced subgenre of house music.[1] Like most varieties of house, the genre follows a traditional four to the floor house beat, and makes heavy use of synthesizers, samples and soulful vocals, though instrumental tracks are also common. Notable producers that have worked in this genre include the Freemasons, Soul Central, Armand van Helden, StoneBridge and Seamus Haji.
The genre is commercially popular, with record labels such as Ministry of Sound, Hed Kandi, and Fierce Angel all releasing compilation albums dedicated to the genre.[2][3]
Confusingly the terms "house and funky", and "funky" have also been used to describe an offshoot of the UK garage genre heavily based on funk samples and R&B style vocals over a "broken" soca style beat.[4]
So basically its house music thats abit different. As for classics - god knows.
