I went up Torside over Bleaklow far enough to see Snake rd and back yesterday. Great day for it, saw a few others out and lots of stud marks which gave me the idea I was on the right track (bit of a navigational novice!).
Does anyone know if my bog standard compass is likely to still be reliable after being accidentally put through the wash?!!

The stud marks you saw yesterday may not be from recce’s of the Tankys route.
70 odd brown vests were charging around Bleaklow yesterday morning in the DPFR club champs

That said, there were checkpoints at Bleaklow Head and part way down Widlboar Clough, which means you were on the right lines at this point, provided you spotted on the way out that the studmarks were all headed in the opposite direction to your goal ...

There was also groups out from other clubs on recce, PFPR were certainly out there and one or two from Glossopdale. More were out today I understand.

Anyone interested in the "dog" incident that happened as a result of the PFR recce and DPFR club champs. I can fortunatly report that the missplaced mutt was found by his owner who had to divert from the recce and succesfully complete 2 checkpoints if the dpfr race before finding him languishing with a checkpoint marshall getting a lot of fuss! The afformentioned dog was not our Derek as was widely believed, but his brother Boris.
All is well and Boris's owners wish to pass on their grattitude to all concerned.

Was the “dog incident” something to do with a Bedlington terrier (or similar) one shot past me between Bleaklow head and the top of Wildboar Clough.
I did wonder where it had come from / was going to.
