Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
Is autumn upon us? Driving into work today, I noticed that leaves are turning brown and starting to fall.. the conkers look bigger than usual for the time of year, and even the apples on my tree have come early. And the schools haven't even broken up for summer.
Is this due to the freak weather this year, or something more permanent....?
Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
Can't get out at the moment due to work and a dodgy ankle so not many wildlife sightings but a spider just ran inside my laptop....it is hiding between the keys, in fact I think I may be putting its life at risk by typing so I'll stop now:o
Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
It seems that spiders have death wish in my house, just spotted another biggie crawling across my print as it was about to be wound through my press...that would have been very messy!:D

Nature is preparing for another corker of a winter.
Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
We went for a trip over sections of snowdon and for the most we only saw people from a far. Which goes to show you that despite the race and the 3 peakers solitude and an unexplored ground can still be found.
3 seperate herds of goats including one "billy" with huge horns, I knew they existed but don't think I've ever seen them before.
Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
How did you know his name?

He had a tee-shirt with 'Billy' on it, he could have been acting the goat though.

Saw a cormorant standing on the bridge over the Ribble at Stainforth on Friday afternoon. In fact I got within 10 feet of it and had just about got ready to take a photo and the bugger flew off. I'm not sure I've ever seen a cormorant in the Dales before - is that at all common?

I see them at reservoirs quite often, but I haven't seen them deeper into the dales
